AC Delco Professional is the way to fly. The idler mount, arm, and pitman arm are only about $60 total more than the same parts in the ACDelco Advantage line, but the Professional line is much beefier. They work for the GMT 800 trucks. Strongly recommend the OTC 6496 Close Quarters Pitman Arm Puller for Truck/SUV, given the frame on these trucks; that puller is the best $60 your may ever spend. In addition to stopping the tire wear issues with the old idler and pitman arms, this made a huge difference in the ride quality of my truck at highway speeds!I used Mystik JT-6 Hi-Temp lithium-complex grease to lube them up, and all the ball joints and tie rods. It's a high temp grease for wheel bearings, but cheap and has killer specs (they do list it as a chassis grease).

Seems to be a solid well built part which should last a while - I made the mistake of buying cheaper front end kit made by Detroit diesel which lasted less than 5k miles ! Should have purchased the oem quality first time around and saved myself twice the headache of replacing these parts ! Lesson learnt ! Also this unit slides properly onto the splines and when torqued properly fits like the original with two full threads protruding past the nut ! Torqued to 186 ft/lb

The part is not as thick as the OEM. The spline will not fit the steering gear far enough to allow the dust boot to be slid down to protect the gear spline. If you slide it down it will expose the steering gear entrance. Also, the ball stud has a castle nut that is small when torqued to spec it is 1/4" up from the cotter cross hole. I purchased 2 of these thinking I got a bad one, wrong the 2nd came the same. Called ACDELCO and didn't get any answers to the issue. Buy a genuine or a Moog. Whichever $ you want to spend. I went genuine, don't want to swap again.

As stated in other reviews keep your old castle nut to use on the new pitman arm as the one that comes with the new part is not as thick .Other than that getting the old arm is a pain in the butt to get off . This is a 4 groove arm . My truck is a 4WD and had to take the steering box loose from the frame to use a puller .2001 Silverado 1500 4WD .

If you can get your old one off this is a great replacement! With important components like this you want to stick with factory components. This one worked great on my 05 silverado 1500.

Great product! Fit like a glove! Made my 2005 Escalade drive like brand new! Make sure you have the proper tools before you begin! 33 mm socket, a Quality pitman are puller and ball joint separator! And I used my Milwaukee fuel 18 V impact and it was able to do every job with ease!

It's a lot lighter duty then orginal. The description does not say how many master splines it has. This part has 4 master groove splines.
