Better than I expected right out of the box. It may take a few minutes to put some of the pieces together but it is a heavy duty tool set. The shovel or axe can be equipped with a handle making it just over 2 1/2 feet. Or you can mix and match and make it smaller to suit your preference. The aluminum alloy metal is super sturdy and can handle a heavy load. The shovel handle can swivel and turn into a hoe to loosen the soil. The axe is also heavy duty and can used to cut or hammer in nails or stakes. Be careful not to leave these unattended around children or they can be hurt.The whistle and flint are not that great but the compass, knife and screwdriver are definitely useful. This is a great set that can be very handy when camping. Very impressed and would recommend it.

I was excited about having this for overlanding but it is not durable enough for me to depend on it. The threaded hand pieces keep turning on it when using the shovel or the hatchet. Its more of a gimmick thing than something you want to depend on. When I used the hatchet to chop a one inch limb off a tree it started rattling and I noticed the bolts holding the hatchet head on had come loose . It comes in a nice box and each piece has its space and it saves a lot of space and it looks nice so it gets two stars.

Why on earth would you put a glass break spike on the end of a shovel handle? Using the palm of your hand on the shovel handle end is a normal use when using any shovel, this one - nope! You can't do that because there is a huge metal glass break spike on the end. If you remove it, you have a big empty tube that fills up with dirt and other garbage. The shovel blade itself is pretty good, but the shovel as a whole has limited functionality and usefulness due to the spike.

Very very well made set. All of it came in a nice carry case. The axe is fantastic, very very sharp. I was cutting through smaller tree roots with ease. Feels well balanced and its super sturdy. Ive only used the axe and shovel attachment, but i am super satisfied with all i have used. Definately a great buy at the current price point!

Although it mentions aluminum tubing, buyers should be aware that this is NOT a lightweight camping shovel for shoveling excrement. It is 3.6lbs—FYI. The shovel head is loose when tightened, and the blade inside is just that, fragile and no tang, but could be made into a one use spear. The whistle.. well.. doesn't blow. The flint sparks won't save your life, either.It is pretty nifty, though. Careful the kids don't nail you with it.
