We live in bear country and have had over 40 visits from 20 different bears. The number has lessened since we got our horns. They really don't like the sound!!

This is great, once we arrived at my sons graduation there was a sign, NO HORNS ALLOWED, we did anyways and left the lady in front a bit deaf, lol! really loud which it was great.

I would say this is just as loud as a canned horn. Other reviews have said they did not find it very loud. Guess they are expecting decibels of a train horn. Very helpful for scaring off predators from my flock of chickens. As another reviewer stated....remember to turn the handle for it to extend and work properly. Price of one versus multi cans. Worth it.

Poor quality and very low noise level.

This is perfect as a gift to helicopter parents of obnoxious youngsters. It makes one brief loud toot with each stroke of the plunger pump (which screws onto the horn itself). Personally I doubt its carrying power in the great out of doors and I would not stake my life on it. 130dB is louder than a freight train, and that's not this. Assembled, it's clumsy large and made of the kind of plastic that can shatter under rough use. It has no mounting points so try to imagine digging it out of where ever you have it stashed and screwing it together to scare a bear. Na.

I have a band of aggressive squirrels living in the neighborhood. If I open the doors for fresh air they come inside to explore. Not anymore.

I have used this a camping in the mountains to scare away animals, but I mostly use this for my child's track meets. It is loud. I like that I can take the cone apart and compress the handle to store away when not in use.
