I didn't expect much from this spindle motor when I purchased it. I was surprised to find out it's a tank! I ran a 9 hour job with this spindle and it ate it up like candy. I should also mention that it was in an enclosed garage @87-90 degrees outside. The motor has a fan build into the top of the spindle and does a pretty good job of keeping it cool. I had read other reviews about the fan being out of balance, I'm glad I got one that is perfectly balanced and works like a champ. I have had issues with Genmitsu products in the past and they have been very responsive via Amazon to correct the issues. I am so pleased that I actually purchased another CNC from them and I'm currently awaiting it's arrival. I have no hesitation in recommending their products based on their customer service. I could not believe how quiet this spindle is, I can stand right next to it, and barely hear it running. The only real sound coming from the CNC is the end mill carving into the wood.

This is a must-have spindle upgrade for any 3018 CNC. While the motor and supply are great, the cooling fan can easily generate excess vibrations. A 3D printed fan was more stable, but I ended up doing an exchange on Amazon. The replacement fan was significantly better balanced, though not quite ideal in this case.You will need to 3D print a new bracket to hold the 52mm spindle on a 3018. If installing on a 3018 PROver, contact Sainsmart for the STL or STEP file. It'll work with your existing limit switches, which is important. You'll need to use a shop press to remove the lm8uu bearings. Be careful, as they are 35mm bearings, nearly impossible to find if you damage them. I had to replace with lm8suu 17mm bearings x 2 when some of the balls came out of the 35mm bearings during replacement.Aside of the fan issue, I'm happy with the upgrade. Would be even better to have PWM control for spindle speed, but I will add this in with a basic circuit modification.

Power supply and the spindle work great. I had to have a new clamp 3D printed to fit the larger spindle but otherwise no complaints. Power supply works well. I was hoping to run the control board directly off this power supply but since the potentiometer dial changes the DC output to modulate the speed of the spindle, there isn’t a great way to do that. I’d still recommend this kit.

It is a spindle and it has more torque and speed than the spindle that came with the 3018.It does not attach to the 3018 unless you do significant work. Which means 3D print a new spindle z carriage or machine a new spindle z carriage.Worth the money if you're willing.

If I had to suggest one upgrade only for these 3018 tabletop CNC machines, this has to be it. Accuracy, feed rates, noise levels all improved greatly.

RPM range is good, don't expect much torque at low speed. Runs very quietly. Collets have very little runout. The fan is not well balanced.
