I purchased a Gates thermostat for my Kia and the gasket didn't seal. This thermostat looks like the stock one. The gasket goes on the flange of the thermostat. The reason the Gates wouldn't seal was the gasket was rounded off and didn't make a contact with the thermostat housing. So far no leaks!
