This is the first time in 18 year of working with leather that I have tried this type of leather sewing needle. I really like it! They hold the leather much better than the other type. The only negative is that the hole in the leather needs to be big enough to accomadate the diameter of the needle and the washer piece that slides down the needle to secure the leather. The smallest size hole I was able to run the needle with the leather inserted was 3mm.
