I carried around a classic green/white hula popper in my tackle box for nearly 10 years before using it. It was a hand-me-down from my father, who preferred river trout fishing. I actually didn't think it looked like something fish would go for. Not only was I wrong, but it has turned out to be one of my favorite and fun lures whenever there is any top water feeding action going on. Here is why I think it is a winner for introducing young ones to fishing as well, it combines the visual cues of a bobber, with the very very forgiving stickiness of dual treble hooks. All the young person needs to do is tug on it occasionally with a very slow retrieve. When the fish go for it, it is easy to spot, and usually VERY entertaining. I have had fish shoot 2-3 feet in the air when initially clobbering this lure. The hooks are very sharp, and good quality, which means the hook-up ratio is very good, even for a young angler that hasn't mastered setting the hook. I carry a few color variations now days, but I find myself back with the classic green/white frog most often.

Saw this one on sale. Apparently it’s an ultralight popper That’s my bad for not paying attention Still great value and I’m sure I’ll catch many fish on it

Amazing lure. It is a classic for a reason. Catches big and small bass like crazy. If you are just getting into fishing buy a few, super easy to use, even little kids can catch plenty of bass on these.Four stars because the skirts fall off fairly easily. I would recommend super gluing them on before using them. I have not noticed a decline in bites and it will save your lures. (Protip, doing this to the top of your hooks with senkos will keep the worm from sliding up your line, and make them last much longer!)I caught this guy on my first cast with this hula popper. The skirt fell off while fighting it, but thankfully I was able to retrieve it as I was in a kayak.Four stars simply because the skirts fall off. This is a must have for anyone who wants to catch bass, I would consider it as much of a staple as the senko!

I like yellow poppers for topwater bass but you catch 1 or 2 fish and the skirt rips off. Lure still produces ok but seems like they could be made better

Had to buy another one due to a giant pike that broke it off my line on my very first cast using it! Popped it maybe twice before the fish hit. It was amazing!
