This linkage cable works well. It fits almost like the OEM, but the firewall grommet is different, needing a different seal--or using the original. It also includes the notorious bushing on the shifter... Nice!

Excellent replacement cable for my 1998 Saturn SL1. It is a rather difficult part to replace. If you go to youtube for help, as most do, please ignore that person telling you to remove and re-install from the engine compartment. I tried this and three hours later, went inside the car and removed and replaced the cables. Not easy, but much easier than from the engine side. This way, the rubber and metal plate never need to go thru that small hole. The largest ends required to go thru are the same on both ends. Therefore, your natural decision should be to use the method not requiring pushing the rubber plate thru a hole that it is supposed to cover. I am not sure what was wrong with that poster, but it was still a helpful video. The cable comes with the common failing plastic and rubber bushing for the shifter tower. If you want a long lasting one, just google or go to e-bay for the delrin replacement or the stainless steel one. Mine had no lube, so lube it as you decide. Graphite is good for dry or regular lube avoiding rubber.UPDATE: February 11, 2016, cable end attached to shifter broke off, requiring a complete replacement of cables. Might consider OEM, after all. Too hard to replace often. Better to pay higher price and install once.

Broke about 6 months after installing. And to top it off, no one will honor the one year warranty.

Replaced a broken shifter cable for a 98 Saturn. It is a bit of work to get it in but it does go. The Saturn shifts so much better then before and these are a whole lot cheaper then the dealer item was. I did have 1 problem of it coming off at the shifter, but that was because it was not locked down where it should have been. no problems since. (Sept 2012)

Cable came through right on time and the price of $65 total was great since the auto store near me wanted $205. My mechanic put it on for me, but it wasn't lined up well for my car and came off at the connectors and left me stranded along the road in 4th gear. With a little improvisation (twist the cable and make up new, sturdier clips), it now is fine. But I am shifting gingerly until I know it won't disconnect again. All-in-all, I'm pleased that I didn't pay the $205 and possibly have the same result, and I have a great mechanic who lets me buy parts elsewhere for him to install.

My old cable ends had worn completely out and there was no bushing left. These cables fit wonderfully and have been on the car for a month now. Feels like I have a short throw shifter in my 00 SL2! Much better!
