It's a nice antenna. It's easy to set up on my 05 Pilot dead center of the roof, and plenty of coax. I can get out decent on a 20-watt radio can hit repeaters at 40 miles, further on the right days with good line of sight, right conditions. I don't have an SWR meter for UHF, but I'm not having any trouble talking or hearing anybody either. There isnt anything to tune on this antenna anyway. I imaging the only way to test would be trying different ground plane placement.

I own both the (GMRS version) UT-72G and the (HAM version) UT-72. They both have low SWR reading across a wide frequency range. Oddly, they both look exactly the same and are the exact same length, so if you own both make sure you label them accordingly. These antennas are long enough for great performance, but not too long to make them fall off your roof at highway speeds or hit overhangs at drive through restaurants, etc. As for durability, I've had this antenna for a couple years now and it has held up perfectly. Of course, these antennas (or any other magnet mount) will not stick to aluminum. These are also a great "starter antenna" for someone just getting into GMRS. This antenna and a small mobile radio like the Radioddity DB-20G, make a good combination for someone on a budget. This antenna would also increase the range of a hand held radio as well. These are (in my opinion) the best magnetic mount antennas in their price range.

Great Performance, Solid Build – Just a Few Minor IssuesI’ve been using the Nagoya UV-72 for a little bit now, and overall, I’m pretty happy with its performance. The build quality feels solid, and the antenna does a great job improving my signal reception and transmission range. I’ve noticed a significant improvement in clarity compared to my stock antenna, especially in rural and fringe areas. The magnet mount is strong and holds up well, even at highway speeds. Installation was easy, and the coax cable is good quality. However, the only reason I’m giving four stars instead of five is that the base could be a bit stronger—it does tend to shift slightly if bumped. Additionally, while reception is great, performance can vary depending on the terrain.Overall, it’s a great antenna for the price and a worthwhile upgrade for anyone looking to boost their radio’s capabilities. I’d definitely recommend it, just keep in mind the minor drawbacks!

The Nagoya UT-72G has been a great addition to my radio setup to add range to my handheld GMRS radio while volunteering in western NC with Helene relief efforts. I'm a ham radio operator and have a permanent setup for those bands in my truck, but was in need of a quick fix for effective GMRS use while in the area and simply adding this antenna to the lineup did the trick! Very nice that the antenna also inclues a female/female adapter to accommodate various brands of radios without having to go purchase a separate adapter.

Have been using this antenna and it work very well excellent magnetic base holds totally fast to vehicle roof at any speed and and wind conditions I have put it through. If you purchase it, you will not be disappointed.

This Antenna works great with my GMRS radio couldn't ask for anything better. I have it mounted on the top center of my car.

I had a similar antenna for my Uniden scanner but hated the magnet, it always got knocked off my truck at the slightest touch. I was going to try it for GMRS but the magnet eventually detached completely and I started looking for a GMRS tuned replacement. The magnet is much better on this one, cable seems well made, and the rubber pad is a nice addition. At first I was skeptical because I wasn't getting a lot of activity on the road like I did with just a rubber duck on a handheld another day from road construction etc, but I guess the air was just dead. I picked up some static filled chatter on a repeater about 40 miles away, attached the handheld to this antenna and got much better reception. I was able to hit the repeater (which I hadn't tried before even when closer due to the static), and got a good signal report back from two other stations. The antenna came a little pre-bent in the packaging but I was able to mostly straighten it out and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I appreciate the good performance of the antenna with both a handheld and mobile radio. Recipients report a strong signal and reception is as good as any other antenna I've used. On the other hand, I'm disappointed with the construction. The nut in base into which the antenna is screwed is not secured. When you unscrew the antenna mast from the base, it's impossible to screw back in because nothing holds the nut. You have to remove the rubber base and protective aluminum film and hold the nut in place to get the antenna screwed back in.While Nagoya has a good reputation, this bad design flaw gives me pause. I suggest that users never unscrew the antenna from the base. Or, if they insist on doing so, disassemble the base and hot glue or otherwise adhere the nut to the base housing being careful not to gum up the nut threads.

I had a cheap bingfu antenna, and it worked fine but the magnet sucked. This antenna has a nice solid magnet, no fear of it coming off on the highway, and the cable is much thicker and nicer then the cheaper antennas come with. Only recommendation I have is to put a piece of vinyl tape down where ever you are going to mount this as any magnet mount antenna will damage paint eventually.

Instead of wasting your money and time, do it right, do it once. If you want a magnet mount, this is a great buy. No issues will seller, would buy again.
