It’s super solid for the money, you do have to tighten the drag a good amount for it to work correctly, the rod has a good solid action, the reel is also good but would like it to be made with a tighter tolerance but it is budget so I can’t complain much, I like the floating line especially because it has a loop, and the carrying case which was one of the main reason I bought it, I haven’t used the leader much but looks alright, drag is nice as well, no major complaints, I’d say buy it if you want a budget travel fly rod

LOVE this rod! I use it often and even when I’m choosing to take a break or eat a snack, my partner prefers to use this rod to his. His is also a great rod, but this is super light and flexible and makes the catch that much more fun!

Disclosure: This was sent to me for free via the Vine program. I did not receive monetary compensation to write this review, just the product itself. It's fishing season around here and the sound of boats being launched is like a shipyard most days. Fishing is in full bloom, so to speak, and I figured it was high time for me to get back into it. I have a fly fishing pole but there's just ooooone problem.I don't know how to fly fish and it's a $300 Orvis.Frankly, I'm afraid to touch the thing because my hands tend to break whatever I touch. The Orvis rod was a gift but, as I said, I have NO idea how to fly fish. I've practiced casting in the back yard before but actually catching and reeling something in with a fly rod after spending nearly 34 years on a bait-caster? Frightening. I didn't want to snap a $300 fishing pole so I figured that, when I saw this come up for trial, I'd nab this so that I can actually...y'know...learn to fly fish without breaking out in cold sweats.Overall, this is a nice set. The rod itself is either carbon fiber or graphene and is fitted in sections onto the base of the pole. There's no guessing on alignment, you just line up the dots on each piece of the pole and the eyelets are good to go. You can't SHORTEN the rod (as each part is tapered to certain thickness and the end eyelet only fits on the second to the last piece) so bear that in mind. But the rod itself has a good whip and flex to it. Of course I'm nervous about testing the tensile strength (haven't caught anything yet) but I'll fish off that bridge when I get to it.The reel is also nice. It comes preloaded with line with the leader separate for you to put on. The line I got was green which, not the most camouflaged on water around here but fish are dumb and hungry. The reel has an adjustable tensioner for reeling in, as well, which is activated by turning a dial on the right side of the reel while it's in your hands. It comes with 12 flies, four of three different kinds (I don't know enough about flies to tell you what they are but I think one is a woolie bugger maybe I dunno) and a case for them with plenty of room for additional flies. It also comes with a line nipper and a retractable lanyard to keep it from landing in the drink (or, at least if it lands in the drink it gets reeled back up).Lastly is the case. The case is a two section-ish case. You unzip the zipper on the reel area which opens up and allows the base to drop out into your hands. The other sections are stored in separated sleeves on the top inside of the case. The case is rigid to protect everything, except for the reel cover. Reel cover is soft. The side of the reel cover has a zippered pouch for the nipper/lanyard, leader, and fly box.Overally, the kit is impressive. You get this in the mail and you're a fishing license away from heading out to the river (well, a cooler with sandwiches and beer, some cigars, and a license away). It's everything you'd need to just...go out there and fish. I haven't tested the tensile of the graphene rod (it's graphene, I checked) so if I get out there and catch a lunker that snaps it, I'll let you know. My only wish for this is that the handle was further back because the balance on this thing is pretty back heavy. Also, if it could come with barbless flies, that'd be great too. I had to crimp mine because ain't nobody got time for barbed hook savagery around here. Wasn't a big deal, just a nitpick. So for $93, do I think it's worth it? Sure. The fact that it often has coupons available for percentage off (it's now currently $85.56 with an 8% off coupon)? Definitely a surefire purchase. So get out there and get fishing. AND TELL ME YOUR HONEY HOLES BECAUSE I HAVEN'T CAUGHT A FISH IN FOREVER.

You can’t beat the quality and value this combo brings. I decided to buy this 3/4wt 9ft combo for when my friends want to come fly fishing with me and they don’t own their own equipment. The rod itself looks great, and feels great in the hand. Light feel and balanced with the reel. The performance of the weight forward fly line cast nicely. The rod and reel case is protective and has a dedicated section for each rod piece when it’s broken down. The case also looks great too.I can’t get over the value this combo brings to anyone looking to get into fly fishing or to have as a backup. To top it off, it comes with fly box, flies(handful of dry flies and wet flies), 3 leaders, and nippers, which on the nipper has an attachment to help tie nail knots.Thank you so much for providing quality products at a great price point. In today’s market, it’s hard to find things that make you impressed with the quality while still having a great price, and this combo gave me that.

Try to find a small lightweight fly rod for small fast water when everyone pushes their nine foot four weight rods. I’ve caught trout over five pounds in fast small water and three pound or larger trout in water where people are back casting twenty or more yards to reach th far bank with their long rods. I have just as much luck with my little 0/1 weight six foot fly rod and people are amazed at the light weight, the results, and the price. I’ve been looking for this fly rod since the 1970’s. Perfect little fly rod. I don’t care about the flies that came with it, I supply my own.ðŸ¤

I like the fly rod and reel, as well as the travel case. However, I did not receive the flies, pliers, nippers or the carrying case.

All items work with one exception, the fly box was damaged. I tried to get it replaced but there is no space for an extra individual replacement. You have to send everything back. I find this a waste
