About this item

  • 【HIGH STRENGTH NYLON ROPE】The length of this prusik cord is 30”/45” ,and the diameter is 10.5mm(2/5”) , breaking strength at 27KN(approximately 6172lb). Pre-sewn eye-to-eye prusik cord is made from the high performing, heat resistant, abrasion-resistance.
  • 【MULTIFUNCTIONAL APPLICATIONS】Being a useful rope-grab for rope-rescue applications, prusiks are popular for rock climbing, canyoneering, mountaineering, caving, rope rescue applications, ziplining, arborists, rappelling, ascending the line, handcuffs, tree climbing, window cleaning.
  • 【FLEXIBLE & EASY TO TIE KNOT】Climbers carry Prusik cords mainly for emergency use, as they are lighter than other options. Prusiks are fast to place on a rope, and with practice can be placed with one hand. The loops of cord can be used as slings, and are thus multi-functional in a climbing environment.
  • 【COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL PRUSIK CORD】Prusiks provide a strong attachment that will not damage or break the rope, and so are used in some rope-rescue techniques. Prusiks are good to use in hauling systems where multiple rope-grabs may be needed, and where mechanical rope-grabs are not available.
  • 【RELATED HITCHES】Although prusik can be used in a general way, the Prusik hitch is a specific hitch. The two main alternatives are the Bachmann knot and the Klemheist knot. Another variation is the Autoblock or French Prusik, used by some people as a backup knot while rappelling.

What is a Prusik?

  • Prusik is mainly used as a rope grab to attain progress capture in a rope system, normally a Mechanical advantage system. A Prusik is simply a thin piece of chord or webbing tied into a loop normally with a double fisherman’s knot. The Prusik is then tied onto the thicker rope in such a way that it will not slide down the rope when loaded by pressure.

Why you should always carry a prusik?

1. As a backup for rappelling : Carry a Prusik is to use it as a “third hand”. Adding a Prusik backup while rappelling makes dealing with stuck ropes, traversing, cleaning gear, much safer and easier.

2. When tandem rappelling in the event of an accident: In the event of an accident where you must tandem rappel with your partner, having a Prusik backup is invaluable.

3. For assistance in ascending a rope: Carrying a Prusik gives one the ability to easily ascend a rope should they need to. Rappelling past an anchor in the dark and floundering on the end of the rope until a rescue arrives

4. For use in self-rescue scenarios:Prusiks are the foundation of almost all self-rescue techniques. Whether you are involved in partner rescue, having a dedicated Prusik will ease the process.

These Prusik cords seem of good quality and strong material. Eye inserts make it easier to put carabiner through.

I'm using these with a safety harness at work, 6 month ago I fell off a ladder at work & broke my arm, but now I'm using these cord, at first I received the wrong size, I didn't notice it because I was still on bed rest, but thankfully the shipper did & they were quick to correct the issue..

I have not us this for my life line on a prusik yet. I am using these on my landyard. They are too stiff and I found out these are double braided. So the well take years before they are broken in were I can believe that they will be reactive enough to hold me fast before a fall. They are very very stiff like there is a steel cable in; good on making feel safe from breaking however not safe to hold me in place because it wont bind to the other rope.

I got the 30" one with the thought that I could use it on my 1/2" rope with my Rope Wrench. However because of the thickness and stiffness of the cord and the length of each sewn end (5 1/2" on each end) it was not long enough to tie the hitches that I wanted to tie. I had a shorter 8mm prusik from another company which worked fine but this one did not work for what I got it for. Other than that seems to be a decent prusik as far as strength wise.

Like I've said with any Chinese product, I will not bet my life on this, BUT as a secondary backup it will work for me just fine. I'm glad I found it!

It's definitely strong but super stiff. I guess it's my own fault I didn't look at the length of the sewn eye, but it's ridiculously long, making it very difficult to put into a VT on a pulley, which is my preferred system. I have a total of 2 years climbing so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm pretty sure this prusik kinda sucks for a progress system. It's rated tho,so I'll keep it for a back up if I get desperate, a flip line, or for use as a sling basically. It's not super expensive so I don't feel ripped off, but I'm definitely disappointed.
