I wanted a pickguard to replace the plain ol' white one that came with my Jazzer. I didn't want to spend thirty dollars for a licensed product and I knew spending five bucks on a pickguard would only serve to anger me. I bought this one because a reviewer said it would fit a Squier jazz bass (i have a Squier as well) and they said it was a fit with just a few kisses of sand paper on the neck part to help it along. fifteen dollars felt like an okay gamble. I got the pickguard WAY sooner than I expected. I would like to point out that this is NOT TORTOISE SHELL DESIGN. It is more of a swirl. The colors do not have the shimmer that a decent tortoise pickguard should have. Once I removed the original pickguard to replace it; I had to punish the top pickup section with sand paper for a decent fit. I didn't end up using the pickguard however, you see, my bass does not come with the cut between the top pickup and the knob board. There is a pocket where the top pickup sits, but it is barely visible; so now my Jazz is standing naked in her sunburst glory next to my Precision (which has a real tortoise guard). So thanks red swirl pickguard for letting me appreciate the natural beauty of my Jazz bass :)

I got this pickguard to replace the uninspiring 1 ply white one that came with my Squier. All the holes lined up, but the cuts made for the neck and pickup were a bit too small. So I did spend some time filing them out, but once I did that, it fit right into place. Other than that issue, it's very well made, the edges are smooth, and the red tortoise looks nice.

Nice pickguard, but it seems like nobody knows how to make a vintage looking tortoise pickguard these days. The details are too sharp. If you look at a genuine old Fender tortoise guard, the details are kind of blurry, like a slightly out of focus photo. And the fit where the guard meets the control plate (Jazz bass) is wrong. Better than most I've seen though.
