The folding antennas that are sold with this radio, DO NOT fit this radio. Otherwise the radio is fine, and works as it should. I do not and will NEVER use the software that it comes with, I rely on RT Systems radio software as it is far superior to anything that comes with it.That said, do i find the radios worth the price yes however, i think amazon should actually get its act together and make sure that products sold are actually as advertised and that things actually work! That is why i gave it 4 STARS and not 5.

I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger on these, prior to this I had ordered a set of REVALTIS GMRS radios, and for being double the price of this item I was shocked to see how poorly the quality was.These, however, for half the price, our built solid. now I don’t believe they are water resistant, but I do think that they’ll survive a couple of drops here and there. They were relatively easy to program with my local repeaters and I’m excited to test them out!

What an awesome package of radio goodies! The radios look like the 5Rs but they have been upsized, and the batteries are bigger too. The radios are easy to program with Chirp. I loaded the local ARES frequency plan on to both radios in less than 5 minutes. I really like the USB charging connectors on the batteries.

For the price these are pretty damn decent radios. The speakers are tinny and muffled so you may want to use a headset. Both radios seem to cut out with the weather service at odd angles with more than one antenna so might be my residence. Have not broadcast with these yet as I'm not licensed, but I may test them on a seemingly vacant freq just to see range etc. Have not been out to try repeaters yet. Based on the antennas, chargers and items and what I've used them for so far I already find the cost totally worth it, your mileage may vary based on your specific needs. But they're sturdy, I've carried one in my bag for weeks now no issues and I am not ready on my gear, I did accidentally turn one on and drain the battery somehow. One complaint is that the broadcast button is VERY easy to accidentally push but the cap is easily taken off and put back on which helps. Just beware if you're on a critical service channel you may hot mic your environment. The batteries lasted longer than I expected and I got the better part of a day listening only and not scanning or broadcasting and as such I had the TX level set to the lower setting.

AS I WROTE IN PREVIOUS REVIEW. iT IS NOT LEGAL TO SELL ANY RADIO MARKED AS ham AND GMRS. THE FCC CHANGED THE RULE TO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SEPERATE RADIO FOR HAM AND SEPERATE RADIO FOR GMRS. AS FAR AS THE RADIO I WOULD GIVE ANY BAOFENG RADIO 5 STARS THEY ARE A REA VALUE, I HAVE SEVERAL OF THEM AND THEY WORK FINE.

This thing is great! An unlocked radio like this one is very nice to have and to add to my collection. I am very happy with it! Getting the upgraded battery that works for the UV-5 PLUS also works for this, they take the same battery.
