I've had this system for a year now and it is still going strong and has already alerted us when our main pump went out. The alarm is loud and high pitched and even wakes us up on the floor above. Instructions were great. I'm using an Optima battery with it and it's cooperating fine. Pay attention to your water table height (how fast your pit fills after pumping). Mine was refilling very quickly so I raised both pumps maybe 10 inches and there's a huge difference in pumping frequency. My check valves were also leaking back into it so test for that. Zoeller check valves are the way to go!

Got a chance to put this system to the test recently. Installed it months ago, but had 2 bad storms here recently, sure enough lost power both times. Have a weiz 100 ah battery installed up to my system. With both storm we got tons of rain. First storm we lost power 7 hours, no issues. The second time we lost power for almost 13 hours, zero issues. During both outages the pump was pumping every 2 mins, the 100 ah battery and watchdog did their job.

Bought to replace an old version of pump whose controller failed. Similar form factor, so installation was relatively easy. Pump works fine, and is quiet. Should be able to handle volume of water we could expect. Money well spent if main pump or power fails at critical time.

I am a first time home buyer so anything I can add like this to give myself some piece of mind is something worth trying. With the help of my dad we installed this with 1 trip to Menards (hardware store) as you do need to cut into your existing PVC pipe from the sub pump you have now and create this second route that goes into this backup system, it’s not as hard as it sounds I promise. Also a few other people mention it but you do also need to buy your own 12V battery and I bought a battery box to put mine in which is not included. You don’t need to buy their brand and if you google it, it will tell you where to connect their extra wire to make it stop beeping on a regular 12V battery.

Installed this pump 3 weeks ago. Two weeks after the install, the primary pump had a ground fault and essentially died. I found out because the alarm on the Watchdog system alerted me to the GFCI being tripped due to the fault. After I confirmed the primary went bad, I had to wait a couple of days to replace it and the back up pump did its job during a rainstorm that night. The basement was dry. Excellent investment!

The original piping was not compatible for these new ones! Therefore I had to hire a plumber, wait 2 weeks for them to arrive, and shelled out $500 in total to include pipe, materials, product, & labor ! I would be sure I have a plumber lined up first before purchasing this product. Be careful.

UPDATE *after installation i realised i didnt drill the little hole in the pipe so the pump was airlocked. After i drilled it the pump worked as intended!!The kit seems great so far. I dont have the battery yet and WILL update this when its all hooked up and tested but heres a few pointers! You will have to be a bit crafty to install this and will also have to buy a couple extra things.I HAD TO go buy:abs pipe 1 1/2”, 90° and 45°Elbows and a coupler (to link my new backup pump to my main pump output)Some abs gluea pipe cutterA L shape braket (rona had it!)2 clampsA bolt, washer and a nut (setup specific noted in the instructions)ANDA agm marine battery (300$ and up).So keep in mind that this kit isnt the end of your expenses but is necessary for peace of mind.If you need help to set it up feel free to send a message if possible.

I installed it this past weekend as the water finally slowed down coming into the basement. I got the pump on sale and I feel it is worth the price. It was very easy to install.. The instructions were straight forward and answered most of my questions. Any ones that I have I emailed the company and they were very helpful in providing the answers.I used all ABS to connect it so I had to replace the end they sent as it was PVC. But I since learned you can get PVC to ABS cementAlso the water level sensor if you connect it to the positive battery post then the water alarm will not go off. This will allow the normal power/water level alarm to work fine. The water level in your battery will not be monitored by the system. It fit well in my pit as I had to make the plumbing as compact as possible as the outlet line is in my pit so there is not tons of room to fit it all.It seems to be very good system and gives me some piece of mind in my basement when we install carpet.
