Cooking for a big crowd requires a big pot, and a big pot needs a stove like this one. Intended only for outdoor use, the popular Bayou Classic patio stove features a generous 16-by-16-inch-square cooking surface that can hold up to a monster 120-quart pot. The height is kept short, 13 inches, to minimize the possibility of knocking a pot over and to make it easy to lift heavy, oversized pots. Because of the significant gap across the 5-1/2-inch burner ring, a pot should measure a minimum of ten inches in diameter for use with this stove, unless a wire grill is placed on top.
Made of heavy-duty stainless steel, the stove frame is one welded unit for strength and portability. Included is a UL-listed 36-inch hose with valve assembly and high pressure regulator. Two rings of flame allow the stove to adjust from a simmer to quite powerful heat. Care should be taken when deep frying that the oil not exceed 450 degrees F. All Bayou Classic stoves are designed for use with 20-pound LP gas cylinders (not included), and work great for camping, hunting, and fishing trips, as well as backyard and tailgate parties. You'll notice I gave an overall of 5 stars, but on the breakouts I gave a max of 4. I think the burner is a highly worthy purchase and truly recommend it. I advocate reading the instructions because once you understand how it works, it's easy to use. I had to read the instructions a couple of times to get the procedure right. They are asking for videos, I think the company should produce a video on how to use it and tune it correctly. I don't have any doubt that it will last a lifetime if used correctly and stored properly. As far as sturdiness goes, I found out after I received it the recommendation is a min. of 36 qts and a max of 100 qts. Well perfect, those of the 2 pots I own. Now I just need a good and quick way to level it.

The product works well but needs a windscreen as even moderate breezes carry away too much heat. Without a wind screen I attempted to boil about 4 gallons of water. After 2.5 hours the water hadn't come to a full boil. I didn't have anything available to build a wind screen so my wife suggested using aluminum foil. I wrapped the foil around 3 sides of the frame and fired the up the burner (water was still warm to the touch). Within 5 minutes the water came to a full boil! If I had started with the wind screen I could have saved hours and a good deal of propane.

I love this burner. After I used one of my friends Bayou Burners at a fish fry, I had to get one. My wife complained about the price over less expensive versions, but once I received it she noted the difference as well. It is sturdy, very stable, and the burner is easy to adjust and puts out an even flame. Love it.

Great outdoor cooker! Crudely made with low grade stainless steel, but does the job well. Would be nice if the manufacturer took the time to install solid braces to hold the burner unit in place!

purchased in May 2011 to replace a older painted Bayou Classic burner. This SS model is double the cost of a plain painted version that performs the same function but is expected to last considerably longer since it is constructed of heavy duty stainless steel vs. lightweight painted aluminum. Well, I believed it was worth the difference & ordered it for the extended life expectancy. Unforunatly, it is rusting/corroding in the welds & frame as well as the SS braided gas hose. After numerous unanswered messages to Barbour International, Inc. (Bayou Classic) I finally spoke with the General Manager. He informed me that rust/corrosion was not unusual as they are not constructed from #304 stainless steel. We traded numerous emails that all summed up with me, the now dissatisfied customer, having to pay the packaging/shipping expense of $30.00+ (that equates to 30% of the purchase price)to return ship my defective unit back for what was promised to be replaced with the same model. I do not believe that a 4 month old product of this type should have cost me a cent much less the inconvienance of having to get it boxed & shipped. Not only would I have been without the benefit of my burner for a undetermined period of time, I had no recourse whatsoever if I wasn't sent back the replacement unit.I requested in writing from Barbour International to 1st ship me the replacement unit with a prepaid return shipping label & I would promptly ship them back my rusted/corroded unit upon receipt. That was not acceptable solution to them.Now for the good news. I now contacted Amazon and they offered to either ship me a like model at no cost to include return shipping expense for my defective unit or a full refund. Now, thats excellant customer service.

I returned this item. No rating for Heat output because I did even try testing it. The box was broken upon delivery. When I opened the box there was no packaging to protect the item from the box basically bouncing around. The item was poor quality with sparse spot weld here and there like a home garage project. I went with CS1 - Single Burner Cooker Stand from tejassmokers.com but so portable.

It didn't get 5 stars but it does the job nicely. It's very powerful and I didn't want that so I put a few screws in the gas outlets to lower the heat level. While it still boils water fast it can't keep a slow heat on a pot since the height from the burner to the pot is quite a bit. So once, say, a pressure cooker pot is up to temp (about 238 deg F). it's hard to regulate the heat down.The other problem I had was that the regulator leaked but once I fixed it. it was fine. I would buy this again but as it's stainless steel, I doubt I'll have to. (might have to replace the banjo burner someday but that's far off.
