So first, I love these!! Strong and protects from water. But buy new only!!!! I had to return 2 of these that were packed by Amazon warehouse because they were missing plugs, screws, and covers….basically useless. But I did order 3 new ones (new comes in a box, like new did not). The new ones were great. Only one was missing a set of screws ( but it was a size I didn’t need). These are perfect for our screened in porch & hold the ceiling fans perfectly! I could only find grey at the local big box stores but needed bronze, and Amazon delivered! And the cost was a couple of bucks less than the local stores.

Comes with everything you need to install a ceiling fan outdoors. Assembly is easy especially with the accompanying installation video.However, I am not so clear (and the video wasn't clear on this either) how it is waterproof where the wire enters the box. I bought a PVC connector that is touted as water proof but I don't see how it can be because it doesn't seal on the wire even after it is tightened down.

WIth the recent updates in the electrical codes since 2005. Ceiling fans require a box that is ceiling fan rated. That is outside and exposed to the rain, the ceiling fan shall be wet location rated. The box must also be rated. So many use the standard bell weatherproof round box, (that's not legal or rated for ceiling fan use) or (drill through the beam, use a pancake box, which the canopy is bigger than the beam. Another illegal install.) This box is outdoor, weatherproof, and ceiling fan rated. Even has a trim to allow the ceiling fan canopy to fit under. I have been buying these for my customers for years now. A great product that will pass NEC code and City inspection.

Great for under a gazebo or covered pergola To hang outside fixture /fan and still use A weatherproof box that also allows the canopy of the fixture/fan to sit flat.

Very well made to hang a heavy ceiling fan for outside or damp locations. I had a hard time finding something like this, could have some side mount options to make it better for different applications.
