I bought one of these and kept it in a rented car for a few months and lost it on return, my fault. It was an excellent compass. Perfect accuracy and free floating. I loved it. For those reasons, it was a no-brainer to order another from Amazon. That one works too. Be careful placing these in cars, if you are too close to metal it might interfere. Both of my compasses are accurate and track together to the right heading.

I read the reviews on this compass before purchasing it, so I knew there was a chance that it would not work inside a van. And it doesn’t (unless I’m facing east, northeast, or southeast). Too many magnetic connections in the car offset the magnetic not the compass, I believe. Even my smart phone won’t work in the car at times. It might work outside but I don’t really need it when I’m just sitting somewhere.

My last compass failed with air bubble in a couple months. This on has been working fine for a couple months. You do have to test the placement on the dash because some areas interfere and pull the compass one way or another. Test it in your car in an area where you know magnetic north...make sure it works before you stick it down.

So yea I’ll be returning this product. It just doesn’t work, it’s been stuck on east regardless of the direction I drive. Very low quality.

The Besulen dashboard compass ball I purchased got good reviews, was affordable and appeared to be of good quality. It worked perfectly while holding it and walking around. However, it did not work at all when mounted on my dashboard. In my car, no matter in which direction I drove, it was stuck between Northwest and North. It would not move off of that spot while the car was moving. I don’t know why this product performed that way but I definitely would not recommend buying it.
