I gave this as a Christmas gift and they love it! Its very well packaged and heavy. They set it outside in their garden on a small table and followed directions.So far, its about 60-70% accurate, but they just set it outside so they're learning how to position the dial. Winter is passing so hopefully they will find the perfect spot for accuracy.Overall, they know it adds to their garden and love it.

The quality of the build is VERY nice, but at my latitude (41 degs North) the gnomon is not angled properly and is not bendable ( because it is a nice bronze/brass ). I recommend buying one that has the crescent holder for the pointer( or wire) , that way it is adjustable. This still makes a nice garden accessory.

Put it outside at 8:30 in the morning, daylight savings time. Pointed it North, and instead of reading 7:30 (the sun doesn't do daylight savings time), the shadow cast was to 10:30!!! Worthless, EXPENSIVE, piece of crap! Returning!After starting return, they contacted me to say "Do not return it. We have refunded your money."Gained an extra star.
