Great and easy to spin lettuce dry. Much less effort than the ones you have to pull a cord on to spin.

My wife and I had a number of salad spinners over the last 15 years or so. My favorite was one with a pull cord like a lawnmower or chainsaw (but with much less noise), but the chord eventually became frayed and broke. I could not find a similar one, so we've tried several others. We make 8-12 salads a week between the two of us, so we are frequently spinning our butter, red leaf, and romaine lettuce. Although this particular spinner has a smaller bowl/basket than the others we've had, it's very effective at spinning quickly, which is necessary to rid the lettuce of as much water as possible. It's a bit deceiving as you spin it because you may not think the basket is spinning very quickly, but it's like a bicycle that's in a very high gear where one revolution of the pedals/crank causes the rear wheel to go around several times. You can verify this by pulling off the lid while it is still in mid-spin. One thing puzzles me: sometimes there is very little resistance as you spin the handle and you can get it up to speed quickly. Other times, there seems to be a great deal more resistance, like trying to stir a bowl of peanut butter. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to when this happens. Even then, the basket is still spinning fast enough to get rid of excess water. I usually give each basket two spins; an initial spin, then dump out the water. Then I move the lettuce around in the basket and spin it again to try to get rid of any residual water. There is a tab or spout on the lid that is supposedly to allow you to drain water out without removing the lid, but I'm not sure how or why you would ever need to do it that way. So far we've had this unit for several months with high usage and it continues to work as it did when new, although it seems to be made of relatively cheap materials.

I had my old salad spinner for more than 10 years, it has served me well but definitely showed it's age with a few spines broken off the strainer basket. It seemed to dry the lettuce adequately but wasn't great. The old spinner outer bowl drained out the bottom, so I had to spin it in the sink. This new one has a solid outer bowl so it can be spin anywhere. Where the old spin wheel may slip if I was a little too enthusiastic or if the lettuce was too wet or heavy, the new one didn't even blink when asked for the same thing. As far as performance, that's why you're here right? Definitely spins more water out than the old one. Both are super simple to rinse clean and storage, is a little clumsy with the new one because when you flip the lid, it sits off kilter. Works for me, it may not for you.Overall, I like it and recommended it.

I love the size as my growing kids are starting to love salad, but it’s not easy to use. Or maybe it is, idk. It’s slip resistant but it’s not rocking side to side resistant. Idk where to hold while I spin it bc my hand that’s trying not to let it fly away gets in the way of the spinner. Definitely easy to clean but I wish I went with my first choice but I thought it would be too heavy. Now I learned heavy is better when you have to spin such light food. Not going to lie, I’m trying to “break it” so my husband won’t bitch at me for buying another spinner. It definitely holds up, so I guess that’s a plus
