I’ve done five of these kits and I just wanted to share my experience:These kits areNot for novices. If you have had absolutely no experience with sewing or needlepoint these kits are not for you. You also don’t need toBe an expert at crafting, but some common knowledge is required.I’ve gotten better with each kits I’ve done and will be ordering another soon.Don’t give the kits a bad review if your skills aren’t what they should be. Maybe having a friend help you along would be a good ideaAlso start with something simple, don’t choose a kit with a lotOf complexities.

I have made Bucilla felt ornaments for many, many years. I usually enjoy making the ornaments but the design of these cute mugs is tedious to sew. I have finished two of these mugs and completing a third as I write this. Each one has taken over three evenings of TV to finish. This is the first kit I have not enjoyed making. The straws and handles and candy canes are detailed and thin. Hate making the marshmallows. I stuffed the straws with pipe cleaners and that worked better than polyfill (plus I can bend the “strawsâ€).The instructions for this kit are clear and were easy for me to understand. The felt was of nice quality. I store all the sequins and beads separated by color (they come pre-separated in plastic packs) in a pill container; I transfer colors to a shallow dish as needed so I can swoop them onto my needle. I also keep the threads separated on a card to use as needed (pull out one thread at a time to avoid tangles). To thread my needle I used a Clover brand needle threader (highly recommend!!!).Before finishing the ornament I embroider my initials and the year onto the back piece.I’ve ordered another Bucilla kit to work on in 2025. It’s a big project (a wreath with lots of mini ornaments). I recommend the mug kit only for advanced needle workers, NOT for kids. Plus, after all this work, the ornaments are larger than I like for my trees.

With care you have everything required to make all the items pictured. I havent started yet but am looking forward to the challenge of a new craft. I'm quite good at hand sewing so hopefully all will be okay. Instructions are clear and look easy to follow. A fair price considering everything in the package. Felt is a good quality.
