An All-America Selections Winner, 'Sugar Snap' is a true garden classic pea variety. Delicious, fleshy, 3" round snap pea pods are great to eat whole, fresh or cooked. Simply stir-fry, steam, or sauté! 300 Non-GMO garden seeds per packet. A cool-season vegetable crop, peas are among the first vegetables you can plant in your garden in early spring. Sow seeds in full sun about a month prior to your frost-free date, then enjoy a harvest in 70 days. In Southern growing zones 9-11 you can even grow winter pea crops! Annual for all zones from 1-11. Plant height is 48-72"; spread is 8". Peas like to climb upward, so provide a tall support for vines, such as a pea tower or trellis for climbing vegetable seeds. All of the peas germinated. I like to keep staggering them by a few weeks so there's peas all year (except winter). As the plants get 1-2ft tall I'll start more in pots to plant after these are done (or leave in pots). There's nothing fresher tasting than a handful of fresh pea pods picked off the plants for dinner.Let's break some pea stigmas: They'll grow in a window box or pot or virtually anywhere. They'll grow in full or partial sun. They'll grow in hot or cool weather. You can crowd them in a window box, just part them away from each other as they grow to avoid mildew issues. I've had over 50 plants in a 3 foot by 6" wide by 6" deep box. Many things can be grown almost anywhere and you don't need a garden or massive space. Peas dont need much attention and they're relatively forgiving. Plant them, keep them damp until they sprout, water after soil drys. They're hardier than they're typically given credit for.Don't mind the tales and give it a try for yourself. You can do it.Thanks for attending my TED talk.Update: added pics. The pea garden is inside of a small roll of chicken wire formed into a 4 foot (or so) spiral. I could've crowded them out a little more cos they really don't mind. Seedlings in planter are the next crop. I plan to stagger crops until first frost and then try in a window sill in winter and will update again then.

Update:I received a detailed email from Burpee which was wonderful providing details regarding germination and how the heat can really affect the growth!. While we're disappointed not to be eating those sugar pea's right now - we sure appreciate their swift response and advice! We'll plant burbee sugar pea's in the Spring!Great Customer Service - THANK YOUWe planted Burbee Sugar Snap Pea's in the Spring (April) and enjoyed them so much we thought we'd plant fall snap pea's and did so on 7/21/24, but nothing has sprouted! I don't know why, we toss our coffee grounds on them like we did the first ones in the spring, they are in a raised bed and get automatically watered every morning with the rest of the veggies.... We're disappointed not to get to harvest fall pea's!!!

I have planted this variety for several years now. I get robust vines with plenty of tender pods for many pickings. I prefer to use a short trellis in the rows to make picking easier
