I needed a product that would melt ice on the entrance to my house which is a nice stone. And a product that wouldn't damage the stone. This product worked very well and is very easy to use.

This is THE BEST thing to use on your asphalt / concrete sidewalk or driveway. I have even used it when ice forms on my deck. It's safe for your pets too! Veterinarian recommended! At less than $1/lb it's a bargain. It keeps well too. As soon as you get it take it out of the bag and put into a 5 gallon bucket with a sealed lid. The Home Depot buckets have an O-ring to keep moisture out. A little goes a long way, I am using product from last year and am about to order 2 more bags. BEWARE - CaCl is a desiccant, it absorbs moisture in the air! If it is not sealed tightly it will absorb moisture and become worthless to you. It actually turns to a slimy ball of jelly -like substance and will no longer melt ice or snow. OTOH - it is useful if you have a "musty" smelling closet or crawl space as it attracts and removes excess humidity. Put a cupful in an old Cool Whip container & place on a shelf for a few days & watch what happens.

Used this to increase the calcium hardness in my swimming pool. Much more cost effective that buying something at a pool store. I needed about 30 lbs. of it and now can use the remainder for winter ice removal. Came in a bag as expected.
