I ordered this product to facilitate the installation of a new set of Locking Tuners for an electric guitar with a tremolo, so that it would stay in tune. Guitars produced overseas typically have 8mm holes in the headstock as opposed to 10mm, which American made guitars have. I suspect, that like myself, many people order these type of reamers to accomplish just this task. First of all, I'm so glad that I ordered this product which included TWO REAMERS, instead of only having one, because I ended up using both of them to sucessfully complete the project, and it made the laborious task of grinding through the wood go much, much faster. If you go slowly, with measured twists, I suspect that you could in up with nice, fairly round holes. I wasn't overly concerned with aesthetics, knowing the holes would be invisible, once the tuners were installed, and the pair of tools did quick work through the soft maple headstock, but due primarily to my haste, the holes ended up having roughly a hexagonal shape. Overall, I was very pleased with the product and the way in performed. It sure beat the horror of watching a headstock split in half by drilling with a 10mm drill bit into a thin piece of soft wood.

I needed to reem out a Chinese Squire head stock from 10mm to fit my Indonesian Squire tuning keys 18mm and it worked out pretty nicely, the holes didn't come out perfectly round so i had to use my dremel tool to round out the edges but all in allnit did the job and it was affordable because I found a guy who said he would charge $30 to do job but I bought this tool for $16 i believe and it has 2 reemers for multiple sizes.

Satisfied with my purchase. I used the larger of the two to ream out some thin wall steel tubing with good results. They should work fine with most soft metal tubing. Not sure about wood since the surface of the reamer may not be rough enough to remove wood fibers effectively.

Perfectly decent tapered reamers ... if there was one improvement i'd make it would be for a detent or some other means to prevent the T-handles from simply falling out. A rubber band across the tool is an easy work-around for that. The specific job i bought the set for was enlarging a 1/2 inch hole to a bit over 3/4 inch, plus some other metal work (deburring the inside of steel pipes, for example). They even served as tool-steel carving blades for knocking down some flashing.

Worked good, to enlarge holes on steel tubing.Did a few dozen holes, but only had to make them 1mm or so larger, in cheap soft steel tubing, with thin walls.I did most by hand, but eventually got tired, and mounted it in the drill, much faster. :)

These are pretty basic. The "T" handles are a loose slip fit to the reamer body - I would prefer that they would fit tighter and lock in place.

I was looking for a 7.15 degree reamer for tie rod ends and this item always came up in every search. Unfortunately it does not say what taper it is. It is not 7.15 degrees, it is much smaller angle than that. The packaging is not help at all as it does not list the taper. I gambled and lost, but maybe this review will help someone in the future.

Extremely difficult to find in hardware stores and this set is exactly what I need to make the tuner peg holes in my bass guitar larger. Good quality, quick shipping, what's not to like. Worked like a charm.
