Ceramic Fibre is a man-made synthetic fiber produced fromsmall-dimension filament composed of high purity aluminosilicate materials. It also known as ‘Ceramic Wool’ or “refractory material”. Cause it has a heat-resistant property white and odourless substance. Ceramic fiber is suitable for high temperature applications up to 2400°F. It comes in numerous applications including different ceramic fibre products such as: flame retardant fabric, lightweight units for electrical, thermal and sound insulation, filtration at high temperatures, protective blanket, and so on.
Ceramic fiber blankets are made from bulk fibers produced by the most modern spinning process, giving exceptional length & uniform distribution. Ceramic fiber blankets are manufactured with pure alumina-silica, forming a continuous blanket, mechanically sewed with double needle in order to provide better integrity to the surface on both sides of the blanket, a greater resistance in kaolin types and a higher purity. It contains no binder or other added constituents.

Haven't installed it in a gas forge yet, but wanted to have some refractory wool on hand in case I need it.I double checked that it wasn't something cheap like plastic batting by hitting a spot on it with my oxy-acetylene rosebud torch for a few minutes till it showed red hot.Definitely refractory, and it flexes and feels just like all other kaowool I've messed with.

After watching a YT video on making a microwave kiln, I thought I would give it a try with this. Excellent choice. This insulation is well made out of good quality materials. Workability is excellent. As always when working with ceramic insulation such as the, full PPE (safety glasses, gloves, and respirator) is required. This was easy to cut and form into the required shape and works well. Highly recommended. 5 stars.

The size is ample.Installation/setup: Use per your needs, insulate a stove, kiln, forge, etc.Final thoughts: I got this to use in a kiln I am building for raku. The ceramic fiber is like fiberglass, it will make you itchy and will irritate your skin. Wear gloves, long sleeves, safety goggles, and a mask or respirator any time this insulation is moved around. There is a chemical treatment called rigidizer that does just like it sounds, making the insulation rigid and reduces the shedding of fibers from this. I recommend using the rigidizer when the insulation is in its final location. I like this and I’m glad I got it.âï¸1 star - I don't recommend it at all, poor quality.âï¸âï¸ 2 stars - I don't recommend it, it has multiple faults, or a very high price.âï¸âï¸âï¸ 3 stars - It's passable, It has some faults but the quality is ok for what it is.âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ 4 stars - Product quite acceptable, it does what it promises.âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ 5 stars - Product that I totally recommend.
