I needed just one regulator to finish a project and due to supply chain issues it was hard to find through a distributor, plus the fact that ground shipping charges for that one part would be the same as this entire set. I threw the dice and came up a winner; the regulator I needed works fine in my application, the output voltage is correct and stable on a DMM, and it looks clean on an oscilloscope. I wouldn’t trust these on a critical satellite without thoroughly qualifying them, but for hobbyist projects you can’t lose.My strips were all labeled correctly according to the parts they contained. I only need the one regulator so I don’t know if there’s any unwelcome surprises lurking. I just need to figure out what to do with the other 69 parts.

This is the exact replacement for the 5V regulator on the Arduino and is working great for the one I blew up by accidentally getting the power leads backward - really bone headed move on my part.If you're going to change one, I recommend removal by clipping the old leads loose from the body with high quality flush cutting diagonals, then heating the tab and gently removing the IC with tweezers. Then remove the three leads from the pads in the same way. Use soldering wick to remove excess solder, clean with ethyl or iso alcohol and then solder the new one in place starting with the two outside leads to get things positioned properly. The solder the middle lead and finally the tab.Recommended.

The datasheet for the AMS1117 states the dropout voltage is around 1V. That used to be good enough to call it a "low dropout" regulator at one time, but modern LDO regulators have dropout voltages closer to 100mV. These probably won't work well if you're trying to regulate 3.3V from a 4.2V max lipo battery.
