When I received this product, I was sure I wouldn't be happy with it. I thought it would wiggle enough to fall out of the 12V plug in my truck on the back roads. I was wrong! It stays put in the plug without a problem. This makes me very happy that I can have my SirusXM dock in the truck without the tangle of wires or a permanent mount. Only the antenna wire, which I tucked under the dash, needed to be routed. The 2 USB ports are on the front and the included USB cable worked perfectly. The dock attached easily with the included screws and mounting plate.

The built in satellite antenna went out in my 2010 Toyota 4Runner and the dealer wanted $1200 to fix it. I ended up buying the SiriusXM Onyx on Amazon but found it super cumbersome when placing it on the dash (took up too much space in a limited area) or using the vent clips (blocked the air). I bought this holder and am SO glad I did. It was super easy to install and plugged into the cigarette lighter with no issues. There is a comment in the directions that it can be tight on Toyotas but worked just fine on mine (maybe because it’s older). It is super sturdy and keeps the player so it is easily accessible but not in my way. I love that it has an extra USB port for my cell charger which the charger from SiriusXM does not have. It doesn’t move at all when I change stations. Plus it comes with a short power cord to attach the player to the charger, so you have less cords getting in the way. There are already too many cords! I highly recommend this product.

Overall, I am quite pleased with the product. It works as expected and provides additional functionality with the secondUSB port.My point reduction is due to design flaw for my implementation. I intended to use it with a ONYX radio with vehicle kit. This product provides a plate which includes a plastic plate with screw holes which allow attachment to the vehicle kit. Unfortunately, the bottom of the plate interferes with attachment of the power and antenna connectors. My solution was to use some snips I had to clip away the obstructed area on the plastic plate. While I was concerned I might crack or break the plate, all went well.Once connecters were attached: power, antenna and auxiliary, and the plug inserted into the lighter socket everything worked. The clamps incorporated into the design worked fine.

We sold our car with built in Sirius XM and wanted to move the subscription to our 2002 Lexus RX300 without Sirius XM capability.. It powers the OnyxPlus Sirius XM radio using the included USB adapter from one of the two USB power sockets at the base of the mount. I was concerned that the FM power antenna to feed the audio to the FM radio in the car would not work well because of the USB power adapter but it worked surprisingly much better than I thought it would. The lighter adapter fits snugly and does not budge from cornering or severe bumps. My only minor criticism is that in a future revision they would give the ball gimbal on the back of the radio mount a bit more rotational radius. I have seen the criticisms about the socket adapter not fitting snugly enough. I'm sure that lighter sockets don't have very tight tolerances and vary greatly. If my mount was loose in the lighter socket a bit of duct tape added to increase the socket adapter's diameter slightly would resolve that issue in less than a MacGyver minute.

its meant to be used straight up, but if your outlet is on the passenger side, you need to be able to access and view the front panel. however, the head only tilts a few degrees, very limited. installing the unit at an angle results in the entire assy rotating down, possibly damaging the radio.sigh. this is my 2nd attemp at mounting my new radio in a truck. seems there are no good solutions. this is cheap and kinda works ok. i will be adding support to this, becauase its way too top heavy with little base support.

I was previously using the A/C vent mount which came with the Onyx Plus but that mount is flimsy at best, given the movement of the A/C vent louvers. This after-market mount looked much more functional and it is. Mounted it in the lower lighter socket (not the labeled 12v socket which is up higher), a zip-tie for the cables and we are in business. And don't believe what you read about having to put the antenna on the roof. I velcro'd my antenna inside on the dash where it meets the windshield and it works great. One tip: this lighter socket mount comes with 4 mounting screws that you might wonder why since the factory mounts that came with the unit already had screws. The screws are different! Replace the original screws with the provided screws as they allow for a better fit for the slide-in slot mechanism on this mount. See photo for finished install.

This works exceptional and is my second buy. 1st mount I purchased kept coming apart at the plug. I drive Semi and slip seat to different truck every day. The plug head came apart as i pulled it out to install in another truck. I didn't know it at the time but the rubber boot, spring, fuse and cap screw were missing when i tried to use it in other truck the next day. No chance of finding just those pieces so I converted it into a phone mount. Didn't need it to have power for that. I will be putting some Loctite on this new XM Radio mount.

I like the design concept but power adapter was noisy and intermittent, needed to go back to the original XM adapter to get the XM radio to work properly. Should have returned it, might try to modify it and use the mounting bracket and arm without the adapter, but that was why I bought it. I would not recommend it. Not sure what they meant by the the Sheerness rating. I have a Doctorate in Human Factor Engineering and worked in the discipline for 32 years! I rated it a one star for Ease of use because the adapter did not work properly with the XM radio, I suppose it could have been defective but seemed of low quality.

I mounted this in my F-350 and drive on bumpy dirt roads and this works like a charm. Only dropped it 1 star because it didn't come with the right power adapter for my radio. I would definitely recommend this over a suction mount any day.
