Very efficient! I love this. Seems like it will last a long time. It's quite bulky though. I have large drawers so it's ok but you may need space to store it...even in locked position

The depressions which hold the fruit are hemispherical, olives have an oval profile. I had a kit of rubber O rings to use on fuel lines and in carbs and was able to super glue the right size into the pitter so that the olives would stand up. Positioning them with the stem end down works best. Be sure each plunge leaves 6 pits in the tray, else you will need a good dentist.

I purchased this project in hopes of being able to quickly pit my home cured olives so that I could add them to other dishes pit free. No dice. The holes in the bottom were too small for my pits and the olives were too hard to be pierced anyway.I will have to wait until next summer to try it with cherries... but in the meantime it's a classy red paperweight.

Makes it easy to pit 6 cherries At a time. Serving pitted cherries is so much safer and cleaner

I was a bit skeptical for some reason but this works like a charm!! I like to make cherry margaritas when in season and this is so helpful so my fingertips don't turn purple!

I got this for olives, but olive pits are oblong, the olives have to be placed to sit correctly in order for the pits to pass freely through the hole. It ended up being faster to use a single-receptacle pitter for olives. It probably works fine for cherries, which have round stones.
