A Chest Clip Guard from Merritt Manufacturing, Inc. will prevent your child from pushing down or unbuckling their chest clip so that they stay safe and secure in their car seat. NOTE will only fit carseats where the harness can be removed from the splitter plate for installation. Splitter plates are found on the back side of many child safety seats, and allow you to unhook harness straps so you can slide standard chest clip off straps and replace with Chest Clip Guard. ALSO Due to a potential occupant safety hazard, Merritt Manufacturing, Inc. absolutely prohibits the use of its chest clip guard with the child safety seats listed below. The seats listed have shoulder adjusters (or some impediment in the shoulder area). Shoulder adjusters (or similar impediments) are not compatible with our chest clip guard. The use of this chest clip guard with any of the following seats may result in serious injury or death. My son has autism and was getting out of his carseat. So combined with the buckle guard he's stuck in his seat the entire ride!

We purchased this product when my oldest child decided to pull her car seat's chest clip down out of position. We tried, on multiple occasions, to explain to her the necessity of keeping it in place, but she complained that it was uncomfortable. As we were preparing for a long road trip and she wouldn't keep it in place for even a short 10min drive, I did some research and found this product.The gist:This replaces the car seat's original chest clip. There is a strap that you set to the necessary length that runs from one side of the chest clip, up behind the child's neck, and then down to the other side of the chest clip. Car seat straps are otherwise used as normal.It may void the car seat warranty - you'd have to look into your car seat's manual regarding that. But for us, that was a small concern in light of the potential safety issues of an incorrectly placed chest clip.All in all, we are very pleased. My child has not complained of any discomfort regarding the new chest clip. It is only slightly more complicated to get her buckled into her seat (gotta make sure the strap is in the right place, she can't really do it herself yet so we help her). It stays exactly where it needs to be, she can't pull it down out of place. And now I'm not stressed out whenever we are on the road, wondering whether she's safe or not.

We had a three year old escape artist on our hands. I installed this and the buckle cover after he completely escaped and tried to climb into the front seat. Even modified after market parts are safer than that.That was 1.5 years ago and today a much more sensible 4 year old asked if we could take them off last week so he could unbuckle himself when it was time to get out.It got us through the 3s and worked as needed. Although it may have contributed to some additional window opening as a protest.

This is amazing!!! My kid kept taking of their seat belt even while driving down the road. This stopped it immediately!! I have recommended this to many other people.

This has been the ONLY car seat that my escape artist 3 yr old hasn’t been able to get out of while I’m driving down the road. We tried every other car seat clip on Amazon and he would break them all. This one is durable and works wonders!

This product has frankly been a lifesaver. My kid kept escaping everything else we tried but this product, when properly locked, cannot be opened no matter how hard you pull. It's easy enough to unlock, but as long as my kid is kept away from any keys, he's not going to be able to get out. It's very much worth the money, I highly recommend people to get it and I will be getting the buckle guard ahead of him figuring out how to open the buckle!
