The rods are supposed to be 54inches but there only 44 inches. Will be returning!

I have a 46" opening. The rod was only 44" . Why?

This review is for the closet rod that expands out to 54". I am using it for an off label use. I have put it up in my hall as pictured in order to hang a dividing curtain in my hall when I want to give visitors in our guest bedrooms more privacy. This product works great for that purpose and I like the brushed brass finish.However if I was using this as a closet rod, I would pay attention to the 66 pound capacity. My dress coat alone weights 4 lbs, so in a larger closet it might be fairly easy to exceed the 66 lb. weight limit.For my purposes is this a five star item. It is just what we needed and wanted.
