These templates will not work for my EPP quilt project because each template increases the size of the seam allowance . I use only one seam allowance as do most quilters. Also, I am sure they sent me used templates because they are marked up, gouged and have fingerprints all over them. I will just end up making my own out of paper I guess. Money wasted. They are probably good for something, but it's not for English paper piecing.

These hexagon quilting templates deserve 10 stars! Each of the six templates is symmetrical. They all have their measurements (for final piece size) marked in the center of the template. What I love is that they have small holes at the vertex of the stitching line. A fabric marker/pen nib fits in the holes, so a stitch line (or a slightly smaller hexagon) can be marked. I used a rotary blade to cut out some scrap fabric with two of the templates and found it very easy to do so accurately. I plan to see if I can use them on my longarm quilting machine and stitch decent hexagons with them. This set will come with me to the local Prayers & Squares quilting group this week so I can try making a scrappy quilt with them. In my opinion, every quilter needs a set of these hexagon templates!

I did not order this set of clear acrylic hexagon templates of different sizes to use when quilting, as I don’t know the first thing about quilting! Instead, I ordered them to help me create hexagonal shaped paper tiles of different sizes for my Zentangle artwork.So for my intended purposes, I am only interested in using the outside edges of each hexagon. The white markings on each of the 6 hexagons indicates the sizes of each hexagon WITHOUT the added seam allowances. For example, the largest hexagon labeled as being 5†in size is actually 7†in size, and the 2nd largest hexagon labeled as being 4†in size is actually 5 5/8â€. I must admit that I was a little confused about the measurements when I ordered this product, probably because I am not a quilter. I think it would have been helpful for the seller to include both the outside and inside measurements of each hexagon.The acrylic on each template is ¼ inch thick and is very rigid, which makes it easy to use as a tracing template.I have a minor complaint that it was very hard to remove the plastic protective film from each of the templates. When I first inspected them, I thought they had arrived all scratched up. But then I re-read the Amazon product listing and realized that they were coated in a plastic film that needed to be removed before usage.I think this is a quality product and the price is very reasonable.

I must have received the “bad†batch as the only hex that has 1/4†seam allowance is the 1.5†hex. All others have a much larger seam allowance and the 1†is closer to 1/8†seam allowance. Will be returning.
