I use this warmer every morning. I make my coffee first then I do the rest. It keeps m coffee warm without making it taste bitter. The automatic shutoff is great.

The warmer doesn't work very well with ceramic coffee mugs. It keeps the contents warm, but not hot.Directions said it works best with a flat-bottomed cup, which will have maximum contact with the warmer element. I tried it with a porcelain-on-steel "Pusser's Painkiller" mug, and it was better than the coffee-mug ... then I got a double-walled, flat-bottomed stainless steel mug that's made for the likes of this warmer, and that keeps my coffee and tea piping-hot.

The Amazon picture shows illuminated buttons on the left and right, but they are not illiminated. Also it is not hot enough. Perfect if you like luke warm coffee.

I ordered this because I thought it would work well as a candle warmer, and I love melting candles - all day, every day. We have one of those candle warmers that uses a bulb above the candle, but it's kind of big and bright. I was hoping for something that would be less obtrusive.This warmer is, indeed, less obtrusive. I put a relatively small candle on it, and bumped it up to full power. I was pleased to see that it completely melted the candle from the bottom to the top. This is exactly what I was hoping for, because melting just the top of a candle over and over again causes that top layer of wax to deplete the scent, so you eventually have to pour that melted wax off, and the candle gets lower and lower. Having the whole thing melted would at least somewhat alleviate that situation - or so I hoped.I was somewhat surprised to discover that warming the candle from the bottom up didn't release as much scent as warming the candle from the top down does. Maybe it's the hot bulb above the candle that further volatizes the scent as it's released from the wax - I don't know. All I know is that the bottom-warmer didn't even release scent into the room, let alone throughout the entire house. In fact, I could hardly smell the candle standing right above it. Wafting my hand above the candle helped a little, but that's not the experience I'm looking for.I then tried a bigger, taller candle, and even on the highest heat setting, the warmer couldn't melt the entire candle up to the top. Of course, if the top doesn't melt, then no scent is getting released whatsoever.So, I guess it's back to the top warmer for me.I have no doubt that this warmer works great for hot/warm beverages. However, I don't drink hot/warm beverages, so I don't think I'll be using this device too much. But, it still gets a good review, because it's everything that it says it is, and the fact that it didn't work for my application isn't a problem with the device itself.
