I am so bummed. I am a hand quilter. A very long time ago (and I'm not going to say just how long ago), I started quilting with Colonial Between size 8 needles. I bought a bunch of them, way back when. I noticed my supply was starting to run low so I purchased these. They are definitely not the same. My old needles seem to be shorter and thicker. Those suckers just don't bend. I cannot say the same about these. Sigh. I was hoping these would be the same "Colonial" brand but evidently not.

Nice and sharp. The slightly larger eye makes them easy for me to thread. If you're not familiar with betweens, these are short -- 1 1/8" -- to allow you to take even and small permanent stitches. (I use them for garment sewing, but do any basting with a longer needle.)

The needles I received were NOT made in England as stated in the pic. Richard Hemming needles are now made in China, the needle eyes are elongated and prong to snap in to when pushing through fabric....a real pity.
