The instructions tell you to a hole in the driver side 'frame'. I don't have a drill bit that big, so I used the existing hole under the bumper cover. I didn't pull the bumper cover off. The was something in the frame preventing passage of the nut/spacer assembly, so I tied some string to the spacer block and the end of the pull wire and pulled it thru separately (with some tweaking on the string) and maneuvered in place with a piece of wire. Then I pulled the bolt thru the spacer with the pull wire. One of my blocks came untied (somehow) but was easily fished out with a pencil magnet. (You might be able to get the spacer past the 'blockage' with just a magnet, but I didn't try)The passenger side was super easy.. took all of 2 minutes. You have to be super careful when putting the hitch in place so you don't push the bolts back into the frame. I reconnected the pull wires to the bolts and slid the wire thru the mounting holes in the hitch, one side at a time, then putting the nuts on while supporting the bolt.Leave the nuts super loose... like 1 or 2 treads until all nuts are started. Even then I had to really pull the hitch into place to get the last nut started, but it all tightened well.

went on easy enough. i don't like drilling holes in the vehicle unnecessarily, and to avoid that i found on the driver side i could thread in the hardware from an opening where the back bumper attaches. also threading through a thin string or heavy thread allowed me to pull the irregularly sized parts through the restricted area inside the frame more easily than with the fish-wire alone. i think adding this receiver to the back may also help with safety by providing additional strength to the frame if the vehicle is hit from the rear.

The instructions tell you to enlarge one of the holes in the frame for installation. If you are not comfortable with doing this you can remove the rear tail lights, bumper cover and rear bumper. The hitch can be installed from this point with no modifications to the vehicle. It's a bit more work but it is possible. I did this to avoid cutting on the frame of my new car and can tell you that it is very doable. Be careful with the plastic clips holding the bumper cover and you will be fine. Aside from that the hitch seems to be very solid and the hardware fit as expected.

There aren't many trailer hitches for a Mitsubishi Mirage, as towing is not recommended for this vehicle. My purpose is not to tow, but to use the receiver for a bicycle and a cargo rack. I can now also move my tow dolly with my car. Very sturdy, a little patience required to install, works great; better than I expected.

Additional holes must be drilled on Driver side of frame to make the hole larger for mounting bolts to go into frame. The head of the Bolt(s) will not fit through the OEM holes on the driver side. The hitch will not fit properly from side to side so you will have to persuade it a bit to Mount properly. I looked for the Etrailer guy on YouTube who showed me how to use the wires to feed the hardware through the frame for easier mounting. Ramps help the install process too.

I could not get this on myself. I took it to the auto mechanic to have it installed. Works great now that it is on.

This was an easy install. Took about 45 minutes. Installed on a 2023 Mirage. Videos on YouTube show the install. In my case no drilling required.
