Enabled me to safely haul a trailer behind my 2004 Mustang. Easy installation in about one hour.

Had to remove rear bumper and drill holes. You need high end drill bits that are expensive. I had a pro do it and it took way longer than even their amateur estimate (I don't think he used the high end bits). Labor on this hitch is way too expensive.

After doing alot of research and trial and error, I found this to be the best hitch option for my mustang. If you do your research you will find that there are only two options for installing a hitch on this body mustang. There is curt which is made in the usa and there is cequent which is made in Mexico. Cequent is the parent company which owns Reese, Hidden Hitch, and Draw Tite. Cequent purchased these formerly usa made brands and basically just slaps a different sticker on their mexico hitch depending on which model and brand you order online. If you look at the install instructions on each of them you will even see that they are the exact same sheet and labeled from cequent. Cequent also will place a uhaul sticker on their hitch if you order it through uhaul. They are all the exact same hitch and the brands are just a way to try to fool consumers into thinking they are buying a quality brand name that used to be good. They go as far as to have different web pages for these brands that really don't exist anymore.I really wanted the usa made hitch but curt says it does not fit the gt model with dual exhaust. I ended up ordering the cequent hitch thinking I had no other choice for fitment. What they sent me was very poor quality. It had the draw bar tube welded on crooked. It is beyond me how someone can weld two flat pieces of metal together crooked! I then found that when I tried to bolt it up to begin drilling the two bumper holes that it was too low by at least 3/4" which might as well be a mile. At that point I decided I was not going to use that hitch and asked for a replacement. I found other people had this same exact fitment problem. Cequent sent out a replacement very quickly which is good on their customer service, but the replacement was much worse than the first one. This one had the tube once again welded on crooked, but on top of that it was only welded on ONE side. At that point I was DONE.I decided to just try the curt and see if it would work since it was the only other option. They look nearly identical in design, and I even measured them side by side and saw very little difference. The curt was NOT welded crooked though and has better welds and powder coating finish. Upon install I found that the curt fit perfectly against the bumper! It also cleared my 4" magnaflow tailpipes exactly the same as the other hitch. Your fit with stock tailpipes could vary from hanger differences. As far as the complaints about the install from the other reviews, yes it's not a half hour job for you diy guys. This is not curts fault as the cequent hitch has the exact same install by the nature of the car design. I will mention though that curt provided a fish wire for the bumper bolts and cequent did not. Good luck installing without a fish wire. You may have to drill 1 inch holes to run those bolts in on either brand. I found one hole that I was able to use and another required some shade tree modification to use. Expect to need the holesaw ahead of time and check your bumper to see if it has holes already, Again this is Ford's fault not the hitch brand. It took me about two hours in the driveway with some air tools and swearing to avoid buying the holesaw. Your mileage may vary. You absolutely will need a 7/16 drill bit. Drill slow and keep the tip lubricated with some oil to avoid burning it up. If you are not that comfortable doing these kinds of things just find someone that will do it for you and save a headache.

The install time estimation for a "novice" (60 mins) is a joke. I spent 60 minutes just trying to get through step 1. Eventually, I realized that unless you have professional grade tools, such as the "Carbide Drill Bits" (aka Diamond Tipped Drill bits which cost upwards of $65 per bit) you are wasting your time trying to install this hitch yourself. Take my advice and buy your hitch from somewhere that will install it for you as well...

If you need a hitch for a new edge mustang. This is it. Hard to tell it's there and works great.
