I'm not much of a car guy, so the thought of installing something as seemingly crucial as a trailer hitch was a bit daunting. After calling the dealer for a quote and hearing it'd cost $300 minimum for a worse hitch, I was ready to give it a shot.The installation on a VW Tiguan could not be simpler. The under part of the bumper needs a hole cut in it -- the area is well marked with grooves already notched in the plastic. A sharp blade and a minute later and the plastic was easily removed.The trickiest part is holding the fairly substantial hitch in place while you start the bolts. I managed on my own, but I'm probably just lucky I didn't get a broken nose as part of the install. The bolts need to be tightened to a specific torque -- I don't know how important this is, but for $20 at Harbor Freight, I now own a torque wrench.Installed, the hitch is barely visible, hugging tight to the bumper. My bike rake fit great and is stable. The welds and paint seem high quality. No complaints!

I bought my 2013 VW Tiguan with the electrical lighting package but without the actual hitch because I wanted a 2" receiver. It was absolutely a no-brainer to install this hitch with the high quality hardware provided. I really like the fact that they provide torque specifications too. It gives me the feeling that engineering was thoroughly thought out. I added medium-strength Loc-Tite just to be on the safe side. The only thing I would wish was included was a heavy gauge steel bracket to install the electrical socket. I fabricated my own and welded it to the top of the square tube, just above the cross-pin hole. The bracket looks like a 9" tall letter "F" but laying on it's side with the two "tangs" pointing down. It's made of 3/8" thick steel cut to 1/2" wide on each of the lengths. I drilled and threaded four 10-32 holes and installed the light socket with brass screws. Without my fabricated bracket, there's no good way to install the electrical socket anywhere on the VW Tiguan.And I have a 2013 Tiguan which, if I can recall correctly, the description said the Curt 13133 hitch would not fit. It fit perfectly.

I have used this trailer hitch over the years with a 4-bike hitch rack. It worked great for that purpose. I never had any issues with it. The installation on the VW Tiguan was super easy and installing it myself saved me a lot of money. I would recommend buying this product for simple uses. I have not used this product with heavier trailers.

This was such an easy solution for me to be able to transport our push bikes on my 2015 Tiguan.We needed a 2"(50mm) hitch solution - at a reasonable price - for a push bike carrier and the CURT 13133 was the clear winner and ultimately the obvious answer.Easy OEM type fit to existing attachment points on the Tiguan along with solid construction. If you can cut some plastic (Tiguan bumper) than job is 90% done. Then bolt on your CURT hitch and you're ready to go! Simple and easy! Very happy.
