I installed these brackets myself on an 02 Silverado 1500, and it was a pain. The two front bolts have to go through the frame behind the boxed portion. However, the instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and there are bolt fish wires included in the kit. You will need 2 wrenches for the large bolts, both 1 1/8". Torquing the bolts was extremely difficult, but you will have to in order to make sure it is solid. It's probably worth it to have someone install these for you, but they are very strong and fit perfectly. Paired with a set of universal rails, this kit can handle most 5th wheel trailers up to 15k lbs.

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500 Short bed. My wife, 11 year old son, and I installed it with only half the tools required. I did not have to cut the heat shield at all, and didn't have to remove/lower the exhaust. I did lower (but did not completely remove) the spare tire. I don't think this kit is for the newer style Chevys, So those who like giving bad reviews because of your own ignorance, "BUY THE RIGHT PRODUCT if you want it to fit!"All the holes lined up perfect. I'm far from being a mechanic and It was easier than I thought and took less time than I planned. I only had to drill eight holes in the bed floor. NONE in the frame. So to those who left bad reviews because of your own ignorance "LEARN TO MESSURE!!!"watch this video on youtube before installing. It helps a lot. "5th Wheel Hitch Install: CURT 16418 for Chevy Silverado" They actually call it "Sliverado" I assume by mistake.

I installed these brackets on my 2001 Silverado 2500HD with the 6.5 foot bed. I did not have to drill any holes in the frame as this is the "short bed" version of the 2500HD frame. I did have to drill holes in the bed of the truck for the hitch rails, this was expected. Other than I had to cut my spare tire off of my truck, everything went fine. Great product, simple to install.

Received rails and box had a hole in it. Not surprised because of heavy steel bracket very loosely packed in a coardboard box. Rails ripped hole in box from handling. Hardware bag was also broken open. and was missing one bolt and two nuts. A penny or two worth of packing material could have prevented this from happening. Aside from the hassle of running to local hardware store to replace fasteners, item was as advertised and relatively easy to install. Fit to truck and hitch well.

Installed these #16418 brackets on my 2004 3500 Silverado Dually with Curt #16204 Rails to mount my Curt A25 5th wheel hitch. They couldn’t have made this installation easier. I had considered paying a shop to do it, so glad I saved that money and just did it myself. The included hardware bag has everything you need, great quality Grade 8 zinc baked hardware and the ingenious “fish wire†for pulling the bolts through your hard to access holes. This install was so easy and everything was so well thought out and great quality that I’m sold on being a Curt customer for life now.

CAUTION: In the youtube videos for installing this, and on the instruction sheets, they only told me to drill one 1/2" hole in the frame on both sides for the bracket, so each bracket is only held on by two bolts. The technician that I ultimately paid to install this warned me that it actually needed both holes drilled on both sides, including the 3/4" one. So, double check me on this too, but it seems that you need to drill 4 total holes in the frame, 2x1/2", 2x3/4".Day One. Fight why things aren't fitting together nicely. It is nearly impossible to fit up under in the places you need to reach.Day Two. Oh, whoever drilled the truck bed last put the holes 3/8" off. Undo everything. Drill. Replace things. Soooooo difficult, so awful.Day Three. Tighten everything down, only, it's IMPOSSIBLE to get things tightened to spec in most of those tight places.Day Four. Take it in to someone. Now, they needed to undo all my work, throw the bolts away, and added normal bolts that can be tightened from the top. Should have been like that in the first place. Also, the large bolts needed to be torqued to 380lbft, which I couldn't have done, so, do consider hiring someone. It cost me $260 to hire them, but, ultimately I should have started there. Now that it's installed, at great cost, I think it will work great.Note: this is all my experience, I am not a mechanic, do your own research.

Installed these on a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2500HD (Old Body style). They fit perfectly! The measurements given put the rails in the perfect spot. The hardware fit well and the instructions were easy to follow. The instructions say to remove the exhaust heat shield, which I attempted to do but broke 3 T-25 bits on the first bolt so I left it in place. It is possible to install this without removing the heat shield, but it makes it more difficult.
