For years I assumed that a certain amount of hitch rattle and noise was just something you lived with when towing. Not long ago I towed a rental trailer over a couple of hundred miles of very bumpy and curvy roads and it sounded like the trailer was ready to break off. After that experience I went to the internet to research the problem and possible solutions. I quickly discovered that this is a very common problem with a variety of relatively simple hardware solutions. The thing that sold me on the Curt anti-rattle clamp is that it does not require any tools to install or remove. And I can testify that it works as advertised making for a much quieter and relaxing towing experience. It did take me a few minutes on the first use to install it and get it adjusted. After doing it the first time, subsequent installation was much easier and faster. And true to its claim, absolutely no tools are needed. The unit feels heavy duty and solid and I feel like I’ll get a lifetime of quieter towing with it.

I purchased 2 of these in November of 2024 thinking they were a great idea. I have a #3000 trailer. The clamps worked great at stopping the hitch rattle but soon began to fail. They required frequent tightening to keep things quiet and the anti friction washer under the overcenter device distorted and became useless. Upon removal and closer inspection the truss bar had distorted (bent). I would look for a steel version with locking nuts instead of the overcenter aluminum type.Update: Contacted the manufacturer and was told the wear was normal and expected which tells me these units are designed to fail requiring consumers to purchase again (planned failure-disposable). Shame on Lippert/Curt for desigining and selling such poor quality items!

This product does exactly what is needed.Completely eliminates rattle when using a hitch mounted cargo carrier. The easiest method I have personally found to lock it closed is to have the hitch mounted carrier as close to level as possible and then use a rubber mallet to do the last bit of closing the clasp, ensuring a very snug fit and 100% eliminating rattle.I use the same rubber mallet to pop open the clasp once no longer needed.

I like the design but the materials are soft aluminum. You only have so much leverage and I could not get this secure enough that I couldn't make it rattle under force pulling the hitch up and down. There are limits to the mechanical advantage of this design. It would work ok for a bike rack but not a heavy boat trailer. I also had limited space for mounting and had to flip the orientation vertically on this with the lever on the bottom. I wound up buying a replacement 2" hitch that has an expandable core using an allen bolt. More money but way more solid.

Hitch clamp arrived quickly and as described. Although it didn't work for me, my son uses it on his 2017 Chevy Colorado. I bought this to fit my 2023 Rivian R1t but it did not work. No fault to the hitch clamp itself the R1t has zero clearance between the top of the receiver and the bumper. Probably this fact has no use to most users but I thought it should be mentioned.

This device is very finicky to adjust and the nylon glide pad deteriorates over time. It does require a wrench to get the adjustment just right. The latch is constantly dropping open.

I wanted an anti-rattle clamp that did not require tools to use, since I remove the towing bracket often when not towing. This is the only one of 50 that has that feature.

Well was a little skeptical when I bought it thinking it was a gamic. LMAO, it really works. It is worth the money and the time to install. But once you have it set to the vehicle it goes on and off really quick.

Handle being aluminium, rubs on steel every time you put it on and take it off, after only a few times it’s already showing significant signs of wear

This looked great, no tools needed quick release rattle adjustment. But after the first or second use, the zinc plating roughs up, so the clamping mechanism becomes very stiff and annoying to use. And clamp force adjustment is only adjustable via a 360 degree turn of the arm, so it is either too tight to do up without feeling like you'll break it, or loose enough the arm doesn't stay clamped up when the mechanism is closed. I hope they go back to the drawing board with this one, and throw some R&D at it to solve these issues!
