My wife and I decided to upgrade the bathtub shower spout and lay some tile and when doing so, we found that our old stem for the cold water was leaking behind the wall and onto the subfloor...well, we could NOT find this part anywhere around us and removing the stem made it leak faster and faster...it was bad. We freaked out a bit but we decided to order this and one-night ship it...if it didn't work we would call a plumber ($$$).Well, more than happy to report that this did work immediately, stopped the leak and saved us money. Works well and we are thankful.

We have tried everything and leaks worse than old one. Plumber even said it was defective.

Perfect quality. Exactly what I needed to stop the dang drip in my bathtub. The nut is slightly smaller and further up the collar so I had to cut the plastic threaded collar for the trim cover. Didnt mind at all after all I went through trying to find this peice in stores. Good quality and made my headaches go away.

Amazon seem to be one of the cheapest places to find this part. Although some of the claims are saying that the parts are cheaply made the only issue I had was the oring on the insert for the 3 way valve body was a hair to skinny. Using an oring from my AC oring kit made it for snug and now we are leak less and the knobs can stop again. First attempt at repair the plastic stoppers broke and fell out allowing you to free turn the knob. Place stem in the closed position covering the water outlet hole. Hold the middle stem that you twist to turn on the water still. Then turn the stems body so you not spinning the valve and possibly pulling or dragging the oring/seat. I also unded up using a bigger spring from a parts kit I was buying from home Depot for temp repairs. Had different sized springs. One being stronger and taller. Was a delta seat and spring repair kit with three different springs and two different types of seats if you need to look for that part to finish the job. I am just so happy to have fixed the leak that would be small and grow. Wasting hot water and gas. I was not looking forward to tearing out the valve body and redoing the whole shower wall. Now to fix the cold side since this unit only comes with one stem I had to order another kit. I actually ordered two so I will have many extra parts for the years to come since this part seems to be becoming extinct. The stems are too short for the setup that I had before so I cannot install the beauty rings and the knobs together just the knobs for now until I find a shorter beauty ring or just cut this one. Hope these tips help. This kit works once everything is solid. The main parts that matter are the plastic pieces that come in it and the stem itself. Everything else can be manipulated if it is somehow incorrect. As I have overcome the leaking crappy sterling plastic internal faucet mechanism. All part of the no lead in the drinking water act.
