This is such a nice kit. It will be a gift for my grandson who is very creative. The knives are sharp and there are many different types. Not sure it’s a kit for beginners though. I can’t wait to see what my grandson is going to make for me!

Intro: From an 81 yr. old woodcarver who has "gifted" his tools. I wished to get a small set to fool around with caracture carving. I knew at this price point there'd probably be some downside. Yep, there was.You will probably need to spend a fair amount of time sharpening, reshaping and stropping the blades. They are a long way from being ready to use. They are frankly justreally roughed out, grind marks and some even with chipped edges. The V-tool was the worst.The joy to success to make smooth cuts starts with a sharp polished tool or you're liable to get frustrated.There's still a lot here for the money though and the only major disappointment are the blades....,the most important items in the set. Unless your set is different from the one I received be prepared to sharpen. If not, buy a top name quality set that maybe has only 6 tools and will probably only require stropping.I'm pleased with what I got now that the blades are tuned to really cut. Chip away!EDIT: Top pic is how they arrived; bottom is shaped, sharpened & stropped.

This will be a Christmas present for my son who is in Scouts and recently fell in love with wood carving. I can’t wait for him to open it! It is nicely packaged and I like that it includes the basswood blocks.

Good kit for beginners. Got for one of my nephews. He lives to whittle on wood. Now he can create things. Good sharp knives. Comes with a little bag to store his tools in. Simple instructions on how to whittle.

I had been looking for something simple but with all the tools I needed to start whittling. I really like that it comes with different sizes and shaped blades plus the gloves where a great idea to stop yourself from accidentally cutting your hands. I'm still working on my horse carving but I'm happy with the quality and all the materials this whittling package came with so I'm not scrambling for more tools to finish. I would recommend for beginners.

This is an excellent kit for a variety of crafts including but not limited to woodworking (for example, linoleum or eraser stamps). I really like the carrying case, the gloves were thoughtful and help a lot, and the size variance means there's a knife for every project. Highly recommend.
