Too small for my GSD and I ordered the XL. Can barely fit a bottle of water in it.

We are reviewing the fit and capacity of the DENTRUN dog hiking backpack. We will update this review after field testing.The pack in the photos is an XL. Our dog is approximately 43 lbs. According to the sizing chart, she measured directly between L and XL, so we went with the bigger pack. We found the sizing chart accurate.The pack is well made with good stitching. The strap that goes low around the neck is padded. The straps that go around the chest and upper belly are not padded, but the dog is partially protected by the mesh liner.We have some concerns with the mesh liner. The side to the dog is mesh but the opposite side is a heavier nylon. The mesh liner is labeled as "breathable" and prevents "overheating" but we can't see how that would work. Once the dog is in the harness, there are no air channels through the heavy nylon.Our dog does move easily in this harness, without leg restriction. We very much like the reflective strips on the exterior panels and pockets. Having the harness straps go through a loop under each pocket is a smart way to keep the pockets from bouncing around on the dog while on the trail.Another concern is about the size of the pockets. The description photos show a rather large blue water bottle being used. As you can see from our photos, a standard sized bottle of water DOES NOT fit inside the pocket. The pocket opening is only 7" and when putting bulky items into the pocket it fills up fast.Our last concern is the small, light duty zippers on the pocket flaps. After a day on the trail, especially a muddy one, I can see how these zippers might jam.We think this is a solid pack that will work for most dogs, but question some of the design elements. It might work perfectly for you. We look forward to field testing it.

The backpack fits my dog nicely. The material of the product is good quality. The pouches are a nice size to put phones, keys, and poop bags. The pouches on the backpack however, is a little small for my use. The pouches are too small to fit 5lb weights. Good backpack if you're not adding weights for your dog to carry.
