I bought this pack years ago for my 130 lb mastiff. At the time, this was the only pack I could find that would fit her measurements. It’s been through rain, snow, heat, and is now on it’s 2nd dog. That’s right, this pack outlasted my mastiff, and is now being used by our very chonky 100 lb German shepherd/bulldog mix.Although there was nothing wrong with this pack, at some point I decided we should upgrade to a pack with larger panniers and a more weatherproof fabric. The search only left me frustrated and thankful for the pack we have. I now realize how lucky we were to find this wonderful pack, and at such a bargain price.Yes, I wish the bags were larger. As is, my dog can carry 2 liters of water, 4 days of food, treats, poo bags, hand sanitizer and his food & water bowls. On day trips we sometimes skip the human pack and make the dog carry our ten essentials plus lunch for two. This pack will not fit a dog sleeping bag, unless we tie it to the top. My exhaustive search of dog backpacks has not found a better alternative with larger bags or tie downs.This pack adjusts to fit a very, very large dog, and unlike other packs, the saddle bags hang completely off to the sides, even on a very barrel-chested animal. The canvas material is so durable I think it may outlast this dog as well and end up being used by a third animal. The downside of canvas is it is a little funky when wet, and it does not dry quickly. We live in the Pacific Northwest where moisture is a part of our lives 3 seasons of the year. Not surprisingly, the pack retains some wet dog smell. Luckily though, it holds up well to washing. Since our dog also smells like wet dog when he crawls into our tent after hiking through rain or snow, I have made my peace with it.I can’t remember how many years ago we bought this dog backpack but in that amount of time I’ve gone through 2 daypacks myself and my son grew from a little kid to a man. All the zippers and connectors are still in excellent condition.2022 Update: According to Amazon, I bought this pack in September 2018. It is now March 2022. The tabs that attach the neck strap to the pack have finally given out. I plan to repair and keep using it. Seriously rugged. Buy it.

- UPDATE 11/3 -OneTigris reached out to me fairly quickly when I posted my review and offered to send me a newly improved dog pack.I received the item after confirming my address within 7 days. The customer service was great and handled my feedback well.As for the product - I noticed the straps come with an elastic band to help hold any extra length of the strap. This is newly improved for me. I don't recall if the top handle is the same quality, but it seems sturdier. However, I would still not advise anyone to use it to pick up their dog (35lbs+) or to use the leash ring. Either may come off. I have a 76+lb German Shepherd, and I definitely would not use either functions.It's still a great looking pack. Each pocket can fit a water bottle, treats, and a toy/ball with room to spare. I have been placing a jar of peanut butter in each bag to use as weights. So far, the bag has held up for his 1-2 mile walks.PROS:- Great look- Roomy side pockets- 3 Straps to keep the bag sturdy and fitted- Easy strap inCONS- Back handle and leash ring are not recommended for use unless your dog is low energy, slow-paced, or under 35lbs.__________________________________________________Not a product I would recommend. I have used this pack about 5-8X for short, leisure walks to get my dog used to the pack. He liked it immediately. We took him on 1-2 mile walks with a water bottle on each side. I then switched it to a box of mac n cheese on each side to make it lighter. However, even with lighter weight, two rings that hold the straps broke off, one being the front which then made the pack awkward and out of balance. I immediately returned it to Amazon.I would not recommend using the leash ring or the handle on the back as it seems like a good pull or grab would break either one. I'm a little disappointed because the pack is stylish and has enough room in each side pocket to carry all the necessities. My suggestion is to improve the quality of the product (after mixed reviews, I purchased the bag because a Rep commented and stated they recently improved the quality of the product. I disagree in regards to the quality improvements and believe it needs to be better sewn together).

The straps are soft and there are no pieces of fabric that stick out to irritate my dogs skin. Which is important to me as I have a short hair breed dog with sensitive skin. Sizing is true to product description.

My medium-size Welsh Collie has worn his for eight months now, so I felt that was adequate time to test and post a short review based on long-term use by a working dog.The FitMeasurements are accurate and the sizing gauge is pretty good. I did find I had to alter the female ends of the belly straps to get a sufficiently secure fit as well as tidying away the loose male ends, but the latter is more an old Army habit. This fit will obviously vary with different diameter dogs and my Collie is quite lean.The length is good, the neck adjustment perfect. The bags sit high enough to avoid fouling the dog's legs and forward enough that he can maintain balance.The ConstructionWhen you first unpack them, the saddlebags actually feel quite light and you start to wonder if they're actually cheap tat... But the stitching is solid and the canvas is of definite quality, which just means it won't especially burden your dog. I've had normal dog coats that weigh more.The zips are both secure and smooth in operation, the seams do not strain when loaded, the main compartment linings are a nice touch. I think the best aspect of these is actually the soft flexibility of the bags, though, since that adds to the comfort for the dog and lets them work without impediment.The Carrying CapacityThis is probably the most subjective aspect to these saddlebags as a lot depends on your dog's own capabilities, the load you require him or her to carry and especially your ability to balance your packing.Our Collie typically carries two 500ml water bottles (one either side), a collapsible water bowl, his lead, some treats, a lightweight microfibre towel (for wet dogs and muddy paws), poo bags, a doggie jumper/pullover and a lightweight jumper or cardigan for the Mrs. That's about 2kg, give or take and there's still room for ancillaries.PerformanceWith 2-4 kg of weight, my Collie is still easily free to bound around the fields and up the hills with almost no perceptible hindrance to his gait. He loves being given the duty of carrying our most valuable possessions (ie, The Treats!!) and every time I get the vest out he knows we'll be out for the whole glorious day!You will have to remember that your dog is now wider and better placed to knock into things/people, as he will certainly forget!As mentioned above, the vest load does need to be balanced, as even a half-kilo will see it fall lopsided. It may also go without saying, but lightweight canvas will *not* be 100% waterproof - Showers and light rain have not proven an issue, but all day out in heavy rain, or a good dunking while swimming across the river may dampen things just a bit... unless you thought to put things in plastic bags first, of course!Mud is best left to dry before being brushed off, while more ingrained dirt can be hand-washed out. It's a little weird, but even visiting Bath last month, we had more than one person asking if they could take a photo!To sum up - A fantastic product that serves its purpose very well and is very typical of the quality and features present in OneTigris outdoor kit. Highly recommended and I'd buy this again in a heartbeat... Luckily I have two other dogs to spoil!

The perfect backpack for a hike and weighted exercise. I put 2 pound bags of flour in each side pocket. Fits my Bully really well and she enjoys wearing it. I have yet to have her carry actual things on a hike but I'm sure it can fit quite a bit. since there are two pockets on each side and the zippered ones are a good size.
