I can get over 20+ pours on different days. Should you? Probably not, but the metal still comes out nicely. I use a different crucible for different metals and each one typically lasts about the same. Heating up to 1100°C. Throw it out when the lip starts to fall apart, and always be sure to wear protection.

I was casting some delicate sterling silver earrings for my daughter and a ring for my wife...on Dec 23d...as Christmas presents when this crucible inexplicably developed a large hole near the bottom. I wasn't even to melting temp. CERTAINLY well below their advertised temperature tolerance. I've been very gentle with it. No abuse. It's simply substandard material. Lesson learned. Don't buy Cheap just because it looks okay. I actually saw another review with a similar failure but thought it must be a fluke. Nope.

This graphite crucible is truly stunning. The surface finish is exceptional, with no cracks, chips, or faults visible. With a weight of 2kg, it is also very thick and sturdy. I decided to test it by melting a small amount of aluminum, and it performed beautifully. In fact, I would even trust this crucible with gold. However, there are a few things to keep in mind when using it. It is important to preheat the crucible before use and to pour your metal as soon as it starts solidifying. Avoid heating it near a carbon furnace or charcoal kiln, and never directly expose it to a torch flame. If you do, the crucible will release carbon dioxide and break. But this is a typical behavior for graphite crucibles.Overall, I am truly impressed with this product and would rate it five stars. It not only functions effectively, but it is also visually pleasing.
