I've always used these types of scrappers on flattop grills/griddles to scrape/clean and cook with. As a cook Ive held and used one of these for years and for hours a day. This is the only thing I use them for except for one that's years old i sometimes use in place of a flat-head screwdriver.. (lol). A new one of these will have moderately sharp corners and a less sharp edge. (Which is not a plus or minus for me, but that makes them useful for cutting dough) I have not used them to cut dough personally, but I know they'd work exceptionally.Corners and edge will eventually dull a little bit over time if they are used on flattops - which is good. If kept strictly only used on a flattop, the edge will dull and conform to your flattop's surface a bit, which gives a very very smooth feeling when scraping the flattop. What you DONT want to do is use these for tough tasks or cleaning, toss them around or allow them to bang against things in a drawer. The corners can get a slight bend which can be annoying for some uses, such as mine. But shouldn't make a difference for most people's use. Just take care of it like anything else.Compared to other brands of scrapers like this, Dexter's are the most comfortable and i still find myself being impressed by their feel and ease to use. Others are bulky and don't feel good to hold for an extended time.Stainless steel is of course easy to clean, the handle though is also easy to clean but does eventually get scrapes or small nicks in it depending on how you clean it. Which takes its look away, and can potentially make the handle annoying to hold. Again, not something that matters for most people.Rugged overall. Handle stays on, I've never seen one of these scrapers break from use. You'd really have to try to break one. Handle doesn't get as hot as the blade obviously but the handle can get plenty hot if allowed to sit near a heat source. Although I've never seen one of the handles melt.Very specific critiques aside, these are the best bench scrapers/dough knives of this sort out there by far. I dont use any other kind. They are sort of the unmentioned, unnoticed best friend of a cook who works with a flattop.

I'm an up and coming chef, I make my own dough a lot at work and home. This thing is just great! The grip doesn't slip when working with more buttery doughs, like pie crusts. Speaking of, I work with our dough cold, so it's typically hard out of the fridge. This thing goes through like it's soft butter. For $15 it's absolutely worth getting this over something cheaper and off brand. I own a Dexter knife too, they make good stuff. I would highly recommend this to anyone, especially if you do lots of pastry stuff.Update 12-02-24: (red floor pics are this review)Had it for two months now, still works like beast for my dough and butter. It's been scrubbed with steel wool and barely has scratches and ran in the dishwasher at least 50 times or more by now. Love this thing. I'll update if anything changes, it's worth the money!

The Dexter bench scraper is pricey at 13$ but it is stainless steel and silicon handle and will last past your lifetime . The blade is generous and the handle is easy to grip. Because the blade is large, the kitchen tool has uses beyond the very useful one of gathering and transferring cut items. Use it as a dough cutter or to divide portions. The blade is not sharp but it is something to be careful with as it could scratch one,

Bought on the strong ATK recommendation, first use was good, but second time I used it and ran it through the dishwasher I have 3 spots where the “stainless steel” has flaked off, leaving bare metal and corrosion visible under the top layer. Was used to scoop up a bell pepper and a potato, nothing crazy, rinsed, left in the dishwasher overnight, and washed the next morning.Past the Amazon return, so stuck with a rusting piece of junk. I have dozens of stainless steel items, and not even the cheapest Chinese stuff is this bad.

Ma conjointe a vu cet outil à l'émission America Test Kitchen.
