This is one of the best stocking kits I've worked with. It is my fifth needlepoint stocking and I was pleasantly surprised that the yarn came pre-sorted and labeled. That saved a lot of prep time and made the kit very easy to use. The design is such that it would be doable for a beginner since there are no huge areas of one yarn color. It is sometimes hard to maintain consistent tension in a large field of one color.I didn't have the problem with the red yarn bleeding as described by one of the other reviewers. Everything in the kit I received was a-okay.I am going to stitch another stocking soon and I'm strongly considering purchasing a second one of this same design.

Directions say to split into 3 strands, then later says to split into 6. Three is possible, but trying to split those into two is impossible - they just fray together. Using only one of the three (which would be two of the six) it looks sparce, but if I use two of the three, I don't have enough.

This is a beautiful, playful, festive kit. The colors are vibrant and it is a relatively easy needlepoint project. The 12 gauge size makes it easier to see than a 14 gauge. The instructions, diagram guide and presorted threads/yarns make it easy to work and manage. Had a lot of threads and yarn left over -- there is plenty provided! As for folks who complain about the stamped-on colors being too vague...that is what the diagram is for. Plus, unlike cross stitch, needlepoint is forgiving. You'll have fun with this kit.

This is the first stocking kit that I have ever bought where the yarn was already sorted and labeled for me. It was very nice not having to take time to label all the colors to make sure I had them correct. The quality of the yarn is excellent. When I'm in the market for another stocking kit I will look for this brand again. Very happy with my selection and the price was great.

I wish the stamped colors were more vibrant. I can only make out some colors with a really bright light a couple of inches from the piece. I think I give up on it.

It's going to be so cute. The materials are predominantly wool needlepoint yarn except for floss to accent - good quality. My only complaint is how faintly the pattern is printed on the canvas, particularly in areas where the colors are so similar. It is very difficult to discern where one color stops and the other starts.

I love this kit - it is a cute pattern and the kit is easy to use and understand. However, I've never done needlepoint before and this kit is overwhelming for a beginner. While the stocking is coming out great and everything is easy to understand, it is a steep learning curve if you've never done needlepoint before. Start small and work your way up to this one!

I have made many needlepoint stockings. This project did not finish well. It was much smaller than expected. Was not very wide. No room to try to enlarge. Very disappointed. Color contrast was also challenging, because color change on canvas was impossible to see. Do not buy!
