I recently had a media center desktop computer upgraded to new components (CPU, Memory, etc.). This computer had two HDMI outputs. In the "second" system in which I use this computer I have a 7" monitor and a video projector. I use the monitor when I play music and the projector when I show movies using this system. (I can use them both at the same time but I usually do not do so.)Well, that media center computer HAD two HDMI outputs but the newer components came with only one HDMI output and one Display Port output. I have nothing that uses Display Port and I need that second output.What to do?As always, when I run across a problem like this, I did a search here on Amazon to see what I could buy to rectify the situation.Amazon offers many suitable items but THIS ONE is the least costly one and the only one I could find which is a compact metal piece with no cable. It appears to be "built like a tank."It just plugs directly into the DP and its output goes directly to an HDMI cable.Obviously, as you can tell from my Star rating and the title of my review, it works absolutely perfectly.And for $5.99 you just can't go wrong. I initially ordered the wrong adapter/converter so, of course, I returned it.My CPU is a wonderful, older, refurbished HP (purchased from Amazon, of course), that doesn’t have HDMI ports. I noticed this CPU had ports that I wasn’t familiar with so, upon further research, I noticed they were different from typical usb ports.I searched through Google and then, after I discovered what appeared to be an adapter that looked like it would fit those ports, Amazon led me to the display port to HDMI converter. Voila!!! Success!My incredible and large monitor (also an Amazon purchase), immediately glowed into a perfect display from an awesome connection. The display was immediate upon plugging the converter/adapter into the display port.I’m impressed and my purchase was very reasonably priced.Highly recommend.(Now all I need is some good speakers and my printer nozzles to get unclogged.).

Converts DisplayPort output to HDMI for monitors that only have HDMI inputs. Works great.Note that this is a unidirectional converter. It only converts from DisplayPort output to HDMI input. It doesn't work the other way around.

The device feels solidly built, doesn't feel flimsy.Once working it seems to work great. I haven't noticed lag.The only issues I have are:No lock on the DisplayPort side.It's one brick, so it adds a large protrusion on whatever you stick it in. Might not be an issue on some things, but I worry something will fall on it and break it or my video card in my PC. It would be nice if it came with a small DP>DP cable so it could dangle.The biggest issue is, at least for some video card/configurations, it can cause a power issue on the PC. I thought my new setup was broken because it wouldn't boot with the adapter plugged in. Luckily I found a workaround. This thing helped me out so much to take an HDMI cable that is connected to my projector to a DisplayPort port on my laptop dock. It's got a little weight to it, which tells me it's not plastic, and made out of metal parts. Top visual quality. Very happy.
