This plane is solid and seems well built. However I had to send it back.I was not able to adjust this tool finely enough to allow it to effectively straighten edges or flatten a crown in the top of some reclaimed 2x6 mahogany.I carefully adjusted the front foot one click at a time and made a passes down the crown until the blade contacted the beam. The difference between a deep 1/32 gouge and no contact of the blade was only one click on the knob.I thought I must be doing something wrong and tried working out this gouge with lighter settings, however nothing changed and I ended up at the same depth making more distinct gouges in an unsuccessful attempt to feather out the first cut.I ended up putting this tool back in the box and fixing the whole mess with a Stanley hand plane. There is no value in an inexpensive tool that does not work.

Works well, however one side of the handle has an open passage that spews forth sawdust. It appears as if there is some plan for a dust collection bag, but I can find nothing on the subject anywhere, so, effectively, only use this outside. If you've operated a power planer before, this is fine addition if you're cool with no dust collection.

The planer came well packaged. Included an edge guide (easily assembled), blade wrench and adjustment allen key, and the manual. I skipped the manual, checked the blades (all tight and level), set the depth shallow and made a few passes on some softwood scrap. As I hoped, the planer cut effortlessly (as a 7amp planer should) and blew the chips across the shop. Toolless change for chip direction (left or right) is easy. Depth of cut dial has click-detents, so you can go a few clicks deeper or shallower with good control. The blades are reversible and economically replaced on Amazon. I'm looking forward to putting this puppy to good use on my next project! All I have to do now is make an adapter to fit my vacuum cleaner for chip collection!
