I received my order last night and used these combs on my 5 year old Maltese rescue this morning, and felt like I should write a review right away. This makes things so much easier!I used to use a warm washcloth around my pups eyes and then try to get rid of the clumps with my fingernails, but this is easier and more effective. It helps to wet the hair around your dogs eyes first so that the comb is better able to break up and remove the gunk. At first I was a little intimidated because the combs looked pretty big in comparison to my dogs small eyes/face and I have to admit that I was nervous that I would poke his eye because of that, but I found that if I just used the last few teeeth of the comb it worked fine. After I got the hang of how to use it (which took all of 15 seconds), I felt confident and safe. I should mention that my pup is super chill when it comes to grooming, so he doesn’t fight me or move his head around much.I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone with a dog that gets teary, boogers eyes! I am also going to purchase some detangling solution and see if the comb will help on a matted area of his tail.

These tiny combs are sturdy, easy to hold and nice and fine toothed. You can comb the eye area but be careful. These comb teeth can scratch the sensitive eye area. My dog doesn’t really have a problem with staining but more with thick black jelly like mucus. These combs take care of that problem. I can’t comment on the discoloration being solved by using this product. Frankly, I don’t think you can comb stains away. The teeth are very fine and can cause discomfort when combing the eye hair. Use gently.

Works great and easy to use. I have two shih tzu/bichon fur babies. They always get tear stains and crusty build up below their eyes that is hard to get out. This tool works great. The combs are small enough to catch all the little bits and brush them away. I have also found that it works well around their mouth. I use a little blueberry face wash and then these combs to comb it out. The comb doesn’t remove the stains but it does get rid of anything caught in their fur. I love that the ends of the combs are rounded so it doesn’t poke them and they are extremely sturdy.

My Cavalier has very runny eyes, which require cleaning on a daily basis, at the very least. I love that these combs will remove the liquid-ish eye buggars AND the dried eye buggars.

I have been using a plastic small toothed comb for such a long time because I was afraid I might scratch one of my Yorkies' eyes if I used a metal comb. I was having an issue with one of them and thought I would at least try these combs. Oh - My - Goodness! Game changer. I was able to get deep into the hair around the eyes and get out "goop" that had been there for years it seemed, with no pain or fussing from the dogs. Super cleaned the tear stains. I was even able to use it on my senior Yorkie that does not like a bath or his face messed with much. It was a breeze on him. The teeth are very close together, so I was concerned it would pull the hair. But it separated and cleaned the hair well instead. Great little item.

Just want to help my fellow frustrated pup parents out who are tired of the tear stains. I have a Boston Terrier who had beautiful face fur as a pup, but then as the months went on he started developing deep tear stains down his face and in to his little nose folds. I bought these combs along with a ton of other things, none of them worked. I watched tons of videos and read tons of articles, none of them helped. I made custom food for several weeks to avoid the stuff in dog foods that can cause staining, didn't help. I switched to expensive, high quality dog foods, didn't help. I asked my vet for help, I tried all the stuff I could find. No matter all of that, our Boston Terrier looked like he was crying rust down his face all the time. Fast forward a couple of years, we're still dealing with the stains. We took our pup to do some training and during the first evaluation session with the trainer I asked the same thing I'd asked several times before "Do you guys have any suggestions for handling tear stains?" She said "Yeah, I've known multiple dog owners who have had good luck with blueberries. Just put a handful, maybe five, in with your pup's food". I kinda felt like "oh...ok, sure." but what did I have to lose, we already always had blueberries in the house, so we started adding probably 7-10 blueberries to each of his two feedings per day. I don't remember exactly how long it was, but within probably two weeks or so we were like "Did you notice Oreo's eyes look better?" "Yeah, I was going to say the same thing!" It's been almost a year now and we still give him blueberries in both of his daily meals and his face still looks amazing. We don't even wipe his face (unless he has a real obvious eye booger or something) and he still looks great. I've been meaning to come back to every tear stain item I've bought and leave a review like this for months because I would have loved to have run across this little nugget of info back when we thought "well crap, I guess he's gonna have rust-face forever". All I can say is try it, give it a few weeks and see what you think. Our dog is 25-30 pounds so maybe adjust the amount of blueberries accordingly based on your dog's size. We almost always use fresh blueberries so I'd suggest that...we only use frozen every once in a while if we are out of fresh. If you try it and it helps, please come back and like this review to try to raise its visibility up to other puppy parents who need it!! Good luck!
