Evidently these are 2-ply. I fully expected there would be indentions on the back side where the design was impressed. Turns out there's another layer of sheet metal, making the back smooth so it sits flush, making full contact with the guitar. The only issue I had was putting this13 hole pick guard on my 11 hole p-bass. Just had to fill a couple screw holes, drill a couple new ones, but none of that could be seen anyway.
