After going through 2 OEM actuators I decided to give the Doreman a try. Looks like a good quality product but time will tell. I actually bought 2, so that I would have a spare. When my last actuator went out I was 6 miles out on unmaintained dirt roads and really struggled through a spot without 4 wheel drive. You will need to top off your gear oil after the install, as you do lose just a little, but in an emergency I figure that can wait until I get back home. For the install all I needed was a 10mm wrench.

Purchased this and did not try to install and missed my return window. It does NOT work and would not clear the fault. GARBAGE

I bought a cheap version that was horrible. So far the Dorman one is holding up well. No check engine light. Or 4wd issues

It didn’t completely communicate properly with the truck for starters. Initially it wouldn’t “shift on the fly†from 2WD to 4WD without insisting the drive be placed in neutral. After a couple of switches with placing it in neutral it stopped doing it for 4WD H, but even after many switches to 4WD L, it continues to require the drive be put in neutral after switching.

Exact fit and easy installation, depending on who a person contacts, this actuator was 1/3 to 1/2 the price of local dealers.

The actuator worked but wouldn’t communicate with the ECU keeping the service 4WD light on. Had to take to the dealership and get an OEM actuator put in. Buyers be warned that if you have a 2017 and newer it will not eliminate the light

Worked great, I have a 2017 Ram 2500, replaced the faulty part, front locks in now and no more service 4WD light, it connected to ECU fine. Earlier review may have had a faulty new part (which does happen more often than it should) or possibly something else in the 4WD system was having an issue, honestly it does a company no good to sell parts that can't communicate with the vehicle it was meant for, or they wont be a company for very long.
