OK, these can be a pain for sure. I ordered this dis-connector but it didn't work well. ended up using an OTC dis-connect tool that I already had. The disconnect tool has an angled handle and the round part is in two pieces. The reason this worked well for me - I could push one side of the tool into the back of the "quick disconnect". Once I got one side in good, I worked on the other side, and it was easy to push in. I even took the took back off and tried both sides at the same time, no dice. I strongly suggest using the plastic, angled disconnect tool. Now for the Dorman 800-409, fit perfect. I used the same part for both heater hoses. Yes, I replaced the tan connector with this black one. Once I got the old quick disconnects off, I cleaned the aluminum fitting on the heater core, and sparingly used some plumbers valve grease on the fitting, and the Doorman seals. Slid back on like butter - and no leaks! You'll need two of these and two small hose clamps. This is the hose I used for the side without the Y fitting.

Pretty quick job, make sure you have the tool to disconnect. Does not come with a hose clamp, But part seems good quality as usually from doorman.

I installed one just like like this 2015 and today 2023 just replaced the other old 2001 OEM that failed. (the two look aftermarket replacements look exactly the same). This installed easy (a little soap to help it slide on). I worry how to get it off if it ever fails since the "so called removal tool" doesn't fit it's too close to the curved firewall. I didn't hear a click but it is working and not coming off.My old one i used a hacksaw to get off. A little slow but saved a trip to the store and $$. I don't think the removal tool would have worked anyway. under the original plastic jacket is a long grommet so there was no chance of hacksawing the aluminum tube.i'm confident it will last quite a while and happy with the fitment, shipping, and price(like anyone - i'd rather the aluminum be thicker and use a hose clamp - i'd rather not have plastic anywhere to begin with)

Purchased item after radiator hose connector broke on my 2006 GMC Sierra. Coolant connector was an exact match OEM but at half the price. Connector installed with no issue and worked perfectly.

New one needed a little wd40 on the seals inside and after that went on good, and i needed a hose clamp where hose connects as the hose didnt secure properly on its own. But worked perfectly after that on my 07 silverado.

They fit perfectly and I received they before I got home from work. But was not the problem on my GM truck. I had to change them to find out. But now there changed as a prevention. Went on easy with a little bit of grease.

Not really a fan of these quick disconnects. Nothing really quick about them. You will need a special disconnect tool to remove them. You will find it awkward because so little room to install the tool. But the product is good quality and fit is excellent.
